Beware

I retained this firm in a probate matter involving significant estate assets and urgent issues requiring prompt action. My experience was that the representation did not align with the level of urgency and asset protection I believed the circumstances required. I had concerns about delays, the han...dling of inventory and oversight issues, and the overall strategy being pursued. At times, I felt my concerns about preserving estate-related property and financial interests were not given the weight I expected. I also disagreed with certain strategic recommendations because I believed they could weaken my position. This review reflects only my personal experience with the legal services provided during the period this firm represented me.

Review from a real client- my attorneys made more than me off my inheritance

This review is based on my personal experience as a real client of Nicholas Abaza. It is not a duplicate review; it reflects my own direct experience working with him on a family estate matter. I hired Nicholas Abaza several years ago to represent me in connection with my family’s estate. Prior to r...etaining him, my inheritance was generating substantial monthly income. After his representation, the matter concluded with a settlement that included both liquid and illiquid assets. However, I did not fully understand how the contingency fee would be applied, and this was not clearly explained to me at the time. The attorney’s fees were taken from the liquid portion of the settlement, which significantly reduced the actual funds I received. In addition, I was not adequately informed of the potential tax consequences. As a result, I incurred a tax burden that effectively eliminated any financial benefit to me. From my perspective, the outcome was not favorable, and I believe my interests were not prioritized in the process. I was also concerned about the arbitration clause in the agreement, which limited my ability to pursue accountability afterward. This review is my honest account of my experience. I believe it is important for prospective clients to carefully review fee agreements, understand how settlements will be distributed, and ask about possible tax implications before hiring an attorney. Again, this is not a duplicate submission—it is a firsthand review from a client sharing their experience.

From a real paying client, honest review and feedback

My experience with attorney Nicolas Abaza was one of the most difficult and financially damaging professional experiences I have ever had. I am sharing this not out of anger, but out of a sincere hope that other families facing emotionally difficult disputes will ask more questions and proceed with c...aution before hiring counsel. I retained Mr. Abaza to help resolve what began as an inheritance dispute within my family. Situations like this are already painful and emotionally complex, and clients rely heavily on their attorneys for clear guidance, honest strategy discussions, and realistic expectations about cost and risk. In my experience, those expectations were not met. What followed was years of prolonged litigation. Discovery stretched on for an extremely long period of time and generated very significant legal fees. Looking back, I do not feel that the likely cost, duration, and risks of this approach were clearly communicated at the outset. As the case progressed, it often felt as though the process itself continued without meaningful progress toward either settlement or trial. Another concern for me was the engagement agreement, which contained a mandatory arbitration clause. This provision significantly limits a client’s ability to challenge the quality of representation in court if serious disputes arise. At the time I signed the agreement, I did not fully appreciate how much protection that clause provides to the attorney rather than the client. One of the most troubling parts of this experience has been how difficult it has been to simply share honest feedback about it. In my experience, considerable effort has been made to prevent or discourage my review from being posted publicly. I have also heard from other former clients who described similar experiences in which negative reviews did not remain visible online. I cannot speak to the reasons behind that, but it raises concerns about transparency. Client feedback—especially difficult feedback—should be an opportunity for reflection and improvement, not something that feels unwelcome. Legal disputes already take an emotional and financial toll on families. When the legal process itself becomes prolonged and extremely expensive, the consequences can be devastating. My experience left me feeling that the financial burden of the litigation became disproportionate to the underlying dispute and that my interests were not protected in the way I had hoped when I first retained counsel. Every legal case is different, and others may have had different experiences. But if you are considering hiring this attorney, I strongly encourage you to carefully review the engagement agreement, ask very detailed questions about litigation strategy, timelines, and potential costs, and make sure you fully understand any arbitration provisions before signing. Clients deserve transparency, accountability, and honest guidance—especially during the most stressful moments of their lives.

Compassionate Attorney

Nick handled my late wife's estate a few years back, and today helped me through an estate matter regarding my daughter (an estate beneficiary), both with clarity and understanding. I would highly recommend him for any legal matters you might have. Dr. Rod Sparks
