Refrain from his consultant

If I could give no stars I would not. I recently hired Herman Martinez to represent a family member of mine, and unfortunately, he fell short of expectations. He took a large upfront payment for the elderly and did very little to help. He failed to provide proper advice, present evidence, or ensure... justice in court. He also failed to make suitable plea offers for both parties. Most importantly, he failed to inform his client of their rights. This man is a stark contrast to what a lawyer should be. I strongly advise against trusting him. However, I did notice that he did advise his client of their rights, which is a positive step. Nevertheless, his actions have highlighted the importance of proper representation and the unfair biases that can arise when someone disregards another’s life. Save your self or family the trouble, refrain from using his legal service.

Mr. Martinez and Mrs. Natalie are not just amazing at their jobs, but are incredible human beings!

I was arrested in Houston during Hurricane Harvey for POS/cont. sub. and a couple of other charges. I was from out of town, never been in any trouble with law enforcement. Wrong place, wrong time! Finally day 5 my wife found the kindest lady Mrs. Ivana to get me out. She was there at 8:00am as so...on as they started releasing people after Harvey and I was out by 11:00am. I had to report Immediately to sign my documents. My truck was impounded. As soon as I signed everything she made a call and got it released it was not flooded/damaged. I asked about getting there but no transportation was available, of course they took me. Again never in trouble before I had no idea what to expect. I asked if she knew of any REALLY GOOD Attorneys she said of course & gave me Mr. Martinez cell #. She went on to explain how hard Mr. Martinez worked for them when her husband had been arrested. She told me when she contacted Mr. Martinez who by they way DOES answer his personal cell all of the time, unless he is in court, or just absolutely not able to talk. He explained everything, he reassured her that he would start working immediately on their case. She went on to explain how Mr. Martinez was able to get her husband completely cleared and the couple of days he was in jail was considered time served. She passed this on to me and wished me luck. Just a small bit the yards that keep your vehicles brutally rip you off because they know no pay, no play you have no other option. After about 3 hours I began my trip back home but all of the roads where closed first time for 13 hrs on the road is mind torture. I said let me try to call Mr. Martinez. After always watching the prison series on tv I was terrified of what my future would be I just knew I was going to prison especially in TX as tough as they are. Sure enough Mr. Martinez answered his phone immediately and asked me about what happened. He listened to me without even interrupting once. When I finished explaining and asking how long would I serve he calmed me immediately and explained how it works. He also explained about remaining positive. Mr. Martinez previously was a prosecutor for Harris County as he explained about his experience and trying at the same time to keep me calm. I asked him what did he think it would cost, he gave me a great price but what did I know. I can tell you now that he and Natalies work and dedication to my case was easily worth double. He agreed to accept the case and worked out an incredible payment plan. That’s when he gave me his assistant Mrs. Natalie’s information and from the moment I called her she was like an angel, especially for having to put up with me for months. Mr. Martinez met me at court for my first appearance, as soon as I met him for the first time he walked in and you realized he was speaking the truth about his knowledge, relationships with others, and his extreme confidence. But you also noticed instantly the respect he had and that he gave right back. He immediately had one charge completely dropped and started working on the second one beginning his/my case. Mr. Martinez did have to settle me down one day again & tell me bluntly he does not function on negativity only on being positive. From that moment on I was ok. After a few appearances Mr. Martinez got me a deal that I never dreamed would happen! During my case and completing it they both stood by my side with incredible advice and a little counseling at times. After I completed they still were there and are too this day! Please don’t fool around with other attorneys! If you value your life/time don’t waste a moment, call them immediately! You are not just a number they treat you with respect, and like family. I watched these other idiot attorneys just plea out immediately clients and realized that I had made one of the best decisions in my life. Natalie has/was always there for me and my wife. Again PLEASE call immediately so you can have the best!

DWI case what not handled as expected.

PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE SELECTING THIS PRACTICE......My experience using this law practice was one of the worst choices I've ever made besides the DWI I nearly received. I ended up having to release his practice from my case and hire another one in place of Herman Martinez after I found out he was ...mishandling my case. He caused my drivers license to become suspended because he did not appeal and submit my paperwork as he had promise in our initial call. I had to call him numerous time in order to get updates on my case. I would not find out the conditions of my probation from him until the day before the deadline, but not until I had to contact him several times to reach him. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure to carefully research your attorney and your case before allowing this practice to handle it. It could cost someone their career and/or their reputation.

Responding to anonymous reviews like yours are difficult because not only are they highly offensive and untruthful but because the review is anonymous we are unable to understand who you are and therefore cannot respond directly regarding your case. Thus, it is highly likely YOU WERE NOT A CLIENT OF MARTINEZ LAW! Moreover, we CANNOT remember a client that left our practice to another firm as you have described. Also, our firm’s practice and procedures prevent these scenarios from occurring Nevertheless, I am going to take the time to explain our law firm procedures because we value our reputation and diligently work hard on behalf of our clients to obtain the most beneficial outcome for them. It is also essential that any future client knows what to expect from our law firm. First, my clients are provided a personal portal for their case. The portal is immediately created when a client hires our law firm. The portal allows them to have a virtual file to see it whenever they have the time. It also allows them to comment, communicate with us regarding any postings that are made. Immediately upon hiring us DPS is contacted by our law firm to alert them that we are requesting a hearing to prevent your license from being suspended. This request is posted in the portal as evidence for the client to rest assured that we are doing everything possible to prevent their license from being suspended. Any subsequent related items regarding their license such as the hearing date is posted in the portal and the client is electronically notified that they have it pending for their review. Second, the client receives instructions regarding the court procedures so they know what to expect because we understand that this is a stressful experience for most people. Third, every client that hires the firm receives my personal cellphone number to contact me. I am actively engaged with my clients. For example, an emergency arose for a client this past Sunday night where I was able to attentively handle the situation for them. Therefore, it is apparent that if a client wants to reach me I will make myself available to them. Fourth, when any evidence like the DWI video is posted in the portal the client is notified so they can review it at their leisure, discuss it with us before making any decisions. Additionally, we thoroughly explain all the options to our clients. We encourage our clients to make an appointment to come into the office if needed. There is no additional charges for these meetings. Thus, your review does not accurately reflect the work we do here at Martinez Law. I personally guarantee that anyone that does their research, talks to us, and hires us will experience the highest quality of service at our practice.

Excellent Attorney

Mr. Martinez helped me get the best possible outcome for my case and kept me informed every step of the way. He was able to save my driver's license from being suspended. His office has a system set up where I get to have access to my case 24/7. He made it easy to reach him by giving me his personal ...cell phone number. There was always a live person that would answer the phones anytime I called and if Mr. Martinez was not available he always called me back. I knew what was going to happen with my case and what I would be responsible for completing. It was overall a great experience in a very stressful time. If you want to be informed and feel like someone really cares about you and the outcome of your case, go with The Martinez Law Firm.

Awesome First (and last) Experience In Criminal System

This was my first time dealing with the criminal court system. I met with three attorneys and called several others to handle my DWI case. I am the personality that stresses about detail and how someone presents themselves and the words they use. I was leery of Mr. Martinez at first for three main... reasons. First, he seemed like a fast talker. Second, his price was quite a bit lower than the other attorneys. Third, it seemed like I would just be another case in his queue and I would get little attention. After reading a lot of reviews and talking to Mr. Martinez a few more times, I specifically told him my concerns about him and he candidly addressed them. I decided to hire him. From that day forward, the experience was awesome. They immediately gave me a rundown of expectations and set me up in their awesome MyCase system. This is a portal that centralizes all things related to your case and all communications. It is very helpful and easy to use. After I hired him, I tried to analyze everything, strategize for Mr. Martinez, asked him a lot of questions, and suggest he do certain things. Then, on one call with him, a calm came over me and I decided to just let him do his job. He and his assistant, Natalie, were very responsive to inquiries and they kept me updated whenever they received new information. My arrest happened at the beginning of Feb 2019 and the case was dismissed on 9/12/2019. I only had to go to the courthouse one time and that was only for a few minutes. In the end, he was a fast talker because he has so much experience and it just flows for him, his prices are lower because he has a system and process and place, and I absolutely did not feel like just another case in his queue. He and Natalie were always available and were very personable. I hope I never need his services again but if I do, I will not hesitate to call him. If I ever hear someone that needs his type of services, I will definitely refer them to Mr. Martinez. If you are on the fence about picking an attorney, do not hesitate to hire Herman Martinez.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
