Christopher Leshawn Tolbert

Chris Tolbert is not someone I would recommend. My experience with him was disappointing. He didn't effectively handle my case. I would not even hire him for a simple traffic ticket. I felt like he was only interested in taking my money. He lacked the dedication and commitment I expected from a lawye...r. If you're looking for someone to fight for your case, I would advise against hiring him. Be cautious and consider other options.

I hired Mr. Tolbert in 2018. He failed to keep several deadlines and on time appointments. It was for a child custody case. He blamed it on the legal system which in my opinion is an excuse. that was the excuse for some but not all. His legal assistant stated the filed paperwork was sent back becaus...e paperwork was filled out incorrectly which was a concern. The day before court he called us and stated he would not be able to show up so he had his assistant lawyer show up. We never met her but he said he updated her on the case. The next day, our court was at 9:00. She showed up about 9:25. The court representative came out and asked where Mr. Tolbert was and we said it was Ms. Day. They knew nothing about him not being there and she should be here soon. After showing up to court late, I terminated him as my lawyer. After asking for my retainer, he said I would owe him money. He charged me for a consultation that he told me would be free, 4 hours for the other lawyers time for court travel, and 5 hours of updating her on the case.

Ms. Day was my original representation. She stood up for me and tried her best to get my case dismissed, then all of a sudden she’s not my attorney anymore. I talked to Mr. Tolbert and he laughed at me when I said I want my case to be dismissed. I decided to go with someone else and he didn’t update ...my new attorney on anything. I have never been in trouble and I’m going through so much money, stress and time. I just want to put this behind me and he just wants money.
