Do NOT hire Tolbert & Associates, PLLC

Don’t concern yourself with the good reviews, look at the bad ones first. I retained Tolbert & Associates, PLLC, after Christopher Tolbert personally reached out to me and described a successful outcome in a case he said was similar to mine. Based on that representation and the terms we agreed up...on, I decided to entrust the firm with my civil litigation. My experience has been beyond disappointing, particularly regarding communication and transparency about my case. On October 9 and October 21, I emailed the firm requesting an assessment of my case, an explanation of the legal strategy following an August 13 summary-judgment ruling, and a clear plan for moving forward. I also requested information about outstanding evidence, relevant records, applicable deadlines, and the work the firm had completed on my behalf. Although my earlier correspondence was acknowledged, I had not received the answers I was seeking as of the date of my follow-up. My questions were specific. I asked about records relating to a July 2019 CPS subpoena, including proof of service, any records produced, and related court filings which were all submitted to the Dropbox he sent to me. Some records are held by third parties or subject to restrictions and are difficult to obtain. My concern is that I need to know what efforts had been made to obtain the records, what records remain outstanding and why, and what steps the firm intends to take to obtain them. No explanation has been given. The situation became more urgent when I received notice of an October 20 order severing claims against four defendants and making the summary-judgment ruling final and appealable. At that point, I needed clear guidance about the consequences of the order, the applicable deadlines, and the options available to protect my rights. After my very first phone call with Chris Tolbert, which he was late and confused, I was informed not to pay him another dime because he had no game plan nor a strategy for how he wanted to attack my case. I still paid Tolbert & Associates, PLLC more than 50% anyway. Chris spent every minute of the phone call asking me insignificant questions that are already provided on a docketed case. Travis County District Clerk’s Office informed me that he had made no appearance before bringing the issue to my attention. I have more than sufficient information on public record so I expect meaningful communication, informed legal guidance, the records I requested, complete answers to the questions I asked, and a clear understanding of how my case was being handled. I entered this professional relationship with Tolbert & Associates, PLLC in good faith solely because they are a “black law firm” and more specifically because he is a black male. I thought he would understand best what it felt like to be lied on, lied to, and set up. From my viewpoint, I expected a very proactive, client-centered approach. Instead, I became more uncertain about his lack of legal strategy guiding my representation and the steps being taken to address significant developments in my case. Chris has given zero answers or records to date. This law firms lack was also being monitored by various outside non-black legal consultants and professionals. Just as I am already aware and have been told, clients deserve more than acknowledgment that their emails have been received; they deserve clear answers about their cases, a legal strategy, and timely communication when important legal deadlines are involved. Especially for a case he desired to take. I’m still a current client!!! I’m also in treatment. Now I have to potentially sue him to get my money back and I will. Do NOT hire!

Amazing Attorney

If I had to describe Chris Tobert in one word, the word would be Amazing. This attorney is like no other that I've ever seen. I was referred to Mr. Tolbert by a Supervisor at my job that spoke highly of him not knowing his skill set. When I finally meet him, I was very impressed with how personable/p...rofessional he was. I had to get some documents revised and handle some more personal issues which required an Attorney. When I reached out to Mr. Tolbert, he immediately called me to get information on my situation and had his secretary set an appointment up with me immediately. Shortly after that, the case well on it's way and the court date was set. I've found that most attorneys are standoffish and you can't even reach them in the time of need but this was never the case with Mr. Tolbert. When I needed him, he was right there and able to answer any questions I had. During the process and court proceedings, Mr Tolbert went into the court room with pure facts based off of a wealth of knowledge that which ended up winning my case. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer and I would recommend him to anyone because you can't go wrong with him as your Attorney. Mr. Tolbert is honest will all information one of the best attorney's I have ever seen in a very long time.
