I've retained Ms. Heitkamps services twice in 8 years. Both times were over child custody and my ex giving me grief. Being a father in Texas and the way the legal system is set up its feels like a loosing battle. Let me tell you, this lady commands respect in the court room and punches. Not only did ...we gain custody, but we also received child support in my case. Not many dad's can say that unless the mother of the child is a dope head or absentee. Mine was neither of those. Kelly worked very hard for me and I have recommended her to countless friends.

I found Miss Heitkamp through AVVO. I'm a grandmother with a daughter involved with the wrong crowd. She is not a good mother right now but I didn't want to wait for CPS to step in. CPS came in the past but they ended up giving the babies back to her even though she was living in a hotel. I learn...ed that CPS is part of the state and they have all of the power to make all decisions for the babies. I had no rights even though the babies were placed with me. This was the last time so I hired a highly respected attorney so this would end finally. It has been a long process but we just finalized our case and we are now acting as the parents and have all of those rights. My daughter can visit the children when she comes out of rehab but she can no longer take the children and CPS can't take them from us. This is heartbreaking and exhausting emotionally and financially but we now have closure and control. I recommend Miss Heitkamp for reasons too lengthy for this site but mainly her compassion, honesty, direct approach, and relentless nature. She has an incredible reputation and after one meeting with her it is easy to see why.

Ms Kelly has been my lawyer for the past two years. Mine is a case that won't be over for years I guess. I read here about people complaining about cost but she charges the same as my first attorney but I actually talk to her and I can tell you what shes done for me. I dont understand a lot about ...how all of this works. I read the papers and wing it. The X wants to have a hearing every week. All of this is crazy but all I can do to help my son is fight it. Kelly is steady and true. People said she was a fighter and that is true but I find she is just honest and works hard... like good people do.

She was asking me what was happening each time we went to court. I leaned not to try and settle and to l...et my lawyer do it. I wasted time trying to get my wife to agree. She never did what she said. All of the talking and trusting just dragged it out and cost more money. I should have done what my lawyer said from the beginning. I trust my lawyer. I know I will hire her again when my kids get older and things get complicated or my X acts crazy. The address on this site is wrong.

It is clear she has experience in handling divorce and child custody cases. I hired her because my neighbor, an attorney, suggested her. She got back to me or had her staff give me a call. She made me feel comfortable, or at least protected, in a very uncomfortable situation. Unfortunately it loo...ks like we will be back in court either next year or so. I would hire her again.
