nice but not the best lawyer.
had previous drug case with her. and because of her not doing full diligence. i will be unable. to get a nondisclosure. if you hire her and expecting to get a seal or expungement. write everything down and record if possible.
I wish I knew the identity of this person so that I could look at their case. Nevertheless, this person believes I gave them bad advice. For that, I am sorry. I would acknowledge that I am human and can therefore make mistakes. However, lack of diligence is not something that has ever characterized my work. I am incredibly diligent and believe information is power and gives you leverage against the state which is why I get as much of it as I can. In addition, I have never told someone in the last fifteen years that a nondisclosure or an expunction will prevent a case from showing up. I say the exact opposite. This is because in the last decade or so employers have gone with private criminal history companies to run background checks rather than something official. The problem with these private companies is that they buy information about arrests and cases but do not update and remove that information after an expunction or nondisclosure. So, again, I am baffled by this review. I will say expunctions are fairly black and white--you can do one or you cannot. Nondisclosures have many more moving parts, one of which is someone's criminal history. I do not know who wrote this review, but what sticks in my mind is that I have had several clients who have records out of state who specifically said to me when talking about this that they believed the State would not find out about their out of state cases. While that is a possibility, I tell them never to count on that. The main source of information for a nondisclosure is my client. My advice is only as good as the information I receive. Again, I am truly sorry this person is having difficulty, but I am actually fairly conservative with my advice--if I have said it, I'm going to deliver it. I'm Board Certified in Criminal Law in Texas. I did not receive this distinction by being "nice." I earned it through my superior knowledge of the law. I have practiced law for twenty-nine years, and I wish I could make everyone happy, but that is impossible. Suffice it to say, I love what I do. I believe I take my knowledge and combine that with my empathy and compassion to lead my clients successfully through what for some is the most difficult time of their lives.

I'd think twice!
I would never hire Nancy Ohan again. It's my opinion that she only cares about herself, her money, and her junk mail outs. On my court day, Nancy showed up late, didn't know who I was, and "lost my tape" or evidence of proof. I was truly innocent but found guilty!
I’m sorry this person is unhappy, but I take issue with the truth of their statement. I work seven days a week on behalf of my clients which is not the schedule of a self-centered person. My fees are low to the extent that other lawyers have gotten mad at me for not charging more. If my focus was money, I would simply charge more. Furthermore, I'm not late to court. I might be in another court room, but I am at the courthouse. I hate waiting on people, and I hate people waiting on me which is why I try to move through my docket efficiently. But yes, sometimes clients wait--it cannot be helped. Lose evidence? Never. Enough said.

Bad attorney
If you looking a attorney. I recommend don’t. Hire Nancy. She just want you money I hire her. Two years ago she never did anything in my case. I have to hire another. Attorney to take care my case.
I charged Mr. Mira $1250 to handle a third degree felony family violence case. I permitted him to pay that fee out over the period of 9 months in payments. I went through all of the discovery, including the 911 call, pictures, and numerous videos. I also sat down and reviewed those with Mr. Mira in my office. Mr. Mira did not follow my advice and got arrested again for another family violence case. I can't help people who do not listen to me, and I should not be held responsible for their bad decisions. I would submit that Mr. Mira's dissatisfaction has nothing to do with money and everything to do with his need to find a someone other than himself to blame for the results of the choices he made.

Poor Service
Nancy was hired to help get my case settled. She charged to negotiate one sentence and came back with more time. No paperwork or communication. Avoided my phone calls, became irrated when asked why she said one thing to get hired and now telling me this is all the D.A. would do. Worst legal service...
I was hired by Denise Williams to represent her son--not her--on a human trafficking probation violation case. The basis for the violation was that he had failed to report for over six months and had left Dallas county among other things. The minimum for his case was two and the max was twenty years in prison. I told Ms. Williams I would try for the two years, but that the DA would want more time and we would end up somewhere in the middle. Her son ended up receiving three years in prison for the violation. He pled on February 20, 2020. I have never in twenty five years of being an attorney promised or taken a fee for a specific sentence. I pride myself on being honest and straightforward. Ms. Williams reached out to me for her son's case because she appreciated the work I had done on another case. It's interesting that at the time of her son's plea, the judge remarked about what a good deal three years was. I thought I did a good job. Ms. Williams obviously did not a month and a half later. She called me several times. These conversations would erupt into her screaming at me. She could not understand why I was not able to get the minimum and why her son was not out. It was impossible to explain or convey anything to her because she would just start screaming when I said something she didn't like. I'm not responsible for the facts of her son's case. Unfortunately, courts and DA's are not typically willing to do the minimum when someone absconds from probation, especially on such a serious case. It is almost equal to committing a new crime. The bottom line is that I did not and would never promise a specific sentence. The only thing I can surmise is that Ms. Williams is fearful for her son being in custody during the COVID-19 outbreak and that is erupting into anger against me. Her fears, while entirely valid, do not justify making me a target. I will not be a punching bag or tolerate disrespect from anyone. I work incredibly hard, do a great job for my clients, charge reasonable fees, and don't deserve that kind of treatment. My dedication to my clients is and has been unquestionable throughout the twenty-five years I have been practicing law. Ms. Williams' review is completely without merit.

Read! POCKETING PLEA DEALS, NOT JUSTICE!
Please take a moment to read my review and consider I'm writing it almost six years after Nancy Elizabeth Ohan represented me. Hopefully my experience will make anyone who reads this to have heavy feet and a tugging conscious when thinking of setting up a consultation appointment with her or think of...
I agree that you should put a lot of thought into the lawyer you choose because it is your life. However, I do not agree with any other part of this review. In the twenty two years I have practiced law, I have never been motivated by money. I expect to get paid, yes, but my fees are incredibly reasonable, and I more than earn every single cent that I charge. I truly believe that people without a lot of money deserve excellent representation. I believe I provide excellent representation as an attorney and a human being which is apparent from my number of good reviews, the clients that continue to keep in contact with me even after their cases are closed, and the number of invitations and announcements I receive from clients when they graduate, have a baby, etc. With respect to this review, I can count on one hand the number of family violence cases I have resolved through plea bargains in the last ten years. I do not resolve cases with a plea bargain unless it is my client's choice to do so. Period. I take the "counselor" part of "attorney and counselor" seriously. I believe this distinguishes me from a lot of lawyers. I actually care and discuss not only the case, but whatever personal problems might be affecting my clients. This is why this review baffles me which is putting it lightly. I was obviously not successful in getting this person's cases dismissed. However, that does not mean that I didn't try or put everything I had into their representation and helping them sort through their personal issues. Blaming someone else for one's own problems is the best way to deflect any personal responsibility. The hardest thing a person can do is hold a mirror up to themselves and hold themselves accountable for what is going on in their life. I am truly sorry that six years after the fact this person is in such a bad mental place that they needed someone to blame and made me their target. However, this is my life and my reputation. Just as I fight for my clients, I will most definitely fight for myself and the truth. Nancy Elizabeth Ohan
