Don't Waste Your Money

One star because zero is not an option. Please consider this a warning and do not waste your money on this expensive and ineffective firm especially James Quigley. The associate in my case was the one who knew all the details. James rarely met with me or took the time to read or respond to my emails.... Yet, he was the one who spoke in court and was clueless as to what was going on in my case. He began looking at the details in preparation for the trial but by that time, the judge had already made many damaging rulings. I have had two independent attorneys look at my case and both of them said my case screams malpractice. James was railroaded by the opposing attorney because he didn't take the time to learn the facts of the case. Not only did I lose my life fortune in attorney's fees but his mistakes have caused me to pay the ultimate price in losing time with my children. There are certainly many better attorneys and firms out there.

Unfortunately, this client wanted to litigate the case when advised against it because an unfavorable report by the GAL against her, and refused to be accountable for her own role in that negative recommendation. Very sad. As with all cases in my office, a team is put into place to help save costs with routine or mundane matters for statuses, drafting and basic prep work. Even utilizing associate attorneys, paralegals and the like, going to trial will result in significant attorneys fees and costs, so try your best to avoid trial wherever possible.

Superb Team for a Difficult Situation

James and his entire team did a terrific job through an incredibly difficult divorce with several unique issues. They made every effort possible to resolve the matter amicably and avoid going to court, they kept me informed of everything I needed to know, and they worked diligently to limit the fina...ncial impact of the divorce on both parties. James took a personal stake in helping me navigate an extremely confrontational parenting situation. While not everything turned out exactly the way I would have liked, James kept both his team and me focused on the most critical issues, and delivered on the most important parts through strong preparation, reasonable, well thought out proposals, and the willingness to push hard on issues that were important to me and my children. More than anything else, I had no doubt through the entire process that James and the team he brought to the case were fully invested in helping me and my children through a difficult time in our lives. I don't know if there is much more you can ask for from a lawyer.

Incredible, effective and caring attorney

James is incredible at what he does. Not only does he know the law inside and out, but he has a fantastic demeanor and ability to help you see the impacts of the decisions you make. He is oriented around mediation and compromise, but it's afraid to push hard and win if the occasion calls for it.

Need James on Your Side

I am writing to highly recommend James Quigley as a Family Law/Divorce attorney even though he was not my lawyer, he was against my interest in a family law lawyer matter. Quigley deposed me for three hours of relentless and grueling questioning. His approach was methodical and his strategy was clea...r and as he walked me through it, there was nothing I could do. Immediately after my deposition there was no choice other than to settle the case. As skilled and intense as Quigley and his associate were, he was at all times professional and respectful. I would not wish divorce upon any individual, but if you find yourself in the situation of having to get divorced, James Quigley and his team at the Beermann firm is the only choice. When you see their beautiful downtown and North Shore offices you know right away you are getting the best. You definitely get what you pay for.

Very Disappointed!

James Quigley was my attorney for my case. He allowed the opposing attorney to write the final agreement and he didn’t read it very carefully. Worse he missed crucial details including one line that gives my Ex what is essentially veto power over what I do with my finances. My Ex has no such res...triction. He never told me about it, let alone asked if I would be OK with it, I wouldn’t of course. I didn’t notice it until Ex took me to court and I had to pay for my Ex’s attorney fees. My attorney said she would have never allowed such a restrictive clause in a settlement agreement. I have spoken to my attorney about fixing it but it’s too late now. Details matter, a lot!

As always, I welcome this anonymous "client" to identify himself or herself in a way that I could get to the truth of what the real issue is. Similar to the same review of this anonymous client written on December 15, 2015, it is difficult to respond to mythical reviews not based on any real facts. As a matter of course we usually attempt to control the drafting of our settlement agreements, but in EVERY case the client must review and approve ALL final agreements. I have never seen, nor been party to an agreement where a divorcing spouse has say over the other party's finances after a divorce, let alone some type of veto power. There may be an instance where a Court may remove an individual's control over his/her finances where that individual is incompetent or possibly has addiction problems and such action would be necessary to protect that individual or possibly children of that individual where there is a duty of support. If this individual was taken back to court and ordered to pay attorneys fees, that is because he/she did not comply with the Judgment and was likely held in contempt of Court. When an individually WILLFULLY fails to comply with a Judgment, necessitating the other party having to take him/her to court, fees will be assessed against he violating party. LESSON: Read and understand all agreements before signing as ignorance will not be an excuse for failing to comply with a Judgment. Furthermore, willful non-compliance with a Judgment will likely result in being assessed attorneys fees.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
