Biography
When people learn that I am a family law attorney, I often get a shudder in response, or the question, "How can you do that type of law?" The answer is simple. I know that I can help people through a major transition in their lives and make the process less painful for them, and, most importantly, for their children. Navigating the court system can be tricky enough. Add in the powerful emotions that come with a domestic relations dispute and you need an informed, empathetic, yet cooler head, on your side. That is where I come in.
Focusing my practice solely in family law allows me to provide my clients specialized representation in their most personal and emotional matters. I create relationships with my clients that allow me to focus on their needs, and resolve their legal issues in an expedient and dignified matter. My mediation training and Collaborative Law training and role as a Fellow at the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois provide me with additional skills in alternative dispute resolution that can be used in and out of the courtroom.
I handle pre-decree divorce cases, child support enforcement, orders of protection, pre-nuptial agreements, post-decree enforcement, paternity cases, college contribution cases, guardianships and adoptions, as well as mediation and collaborative cases. I make sure to meet my client's needs, and when it is outside my realm of expertise, I am ready with referrals to professionals my client may need during, or after, their case, such as business valuators, appraisers, custody evaluators, mortgage specialists, financial experts, and more.
