I called a handful of lawyers until I got to Joseph, first off ,Joe was extremely impressive on the phone and made me feel extremely comfortable about the situation! We spoke on the phone for some time and when I realized we were on the phone for some time I then realized he not once tried to rush me... off and took his time to re assure me and that he would give 100% in the case of me trying to obtain full custody of my child.... Joe was extremely hands on with the matter, very pro active, thought every situation through and was thorough through out the whole process, I very seldom see people of his profession actually care as much as he did! He dealt with my case with care and concern and made sure I made all the right decisions and refused to let me make rash ones! It was a battle for the custody of my child ! And at some point became a dog fight, Joe rose to the occasion! He did no let me down and understood the importance of my situation! Joe won, I won, we won the case! I now have sole custody of my child !! I appreciate Joe, and I don't really think he truly understands how indebted I am to him ! I highly recommend him in any of these situations! Joe O'Brien accomplished something seemingly unheard of with respect to custody cases, he had a lower court's decision overturned by being granted an emergency stay! My children were wrongfully taken away by a lower Kane County court judge, during the beginning stages of the COVID lock down. My r...ights were violated outright in open court by the judge. My attorney, Joe's partner, contacted Joe immediately due to Joe's experience with the appellate system. Right away, Joe researched, prepared and submitted an appeal to the 2nd Appellate Court (Illinois). The 2nd Appellate Court heard the appeal, ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS DURING THE COVID LOCK DOWN, and granted an emergency stay. I picked up my children within an hour of receiving the decision. joe knows how to get it done! my case has been complicated to say the least. joe was able to keep my son in a safe environment, solve any problems as far as decision making and child support, and was even able to get permission for me and my children to move out of state, which is no easy task. he kn...ows the law front and back and will always be honest and straightforward. when our GAL gave me a hard time, he helped me to not only deal with this pathetic excuse of a human being, but kept my son safe and supervised with a noncompliant bipolar, alcoholic cokehead with anger management issues absent father....we all know the IL court system is backwards and seemingly unconcerned with the welfare of the actual children they are supposed to be protecting, but with joe on my side we made sure not to let my son fall through the cracks. joe is always available for call, text, or email regardless of the day or time. his paralegal, jen, is also amazing and is always willing to talk you off the ledge, inform, and explain. nothing will ever be sugarcoated which is rather refreshing. i would never allow another lawyer to touch my case. i highly recommend him for any family law case, but particularly a complex case. i will forever be grateful to joe for making my son's safety and well being a priority.
