Larry Dohman is a top notch attorney in the Cook County court system. He is highly educated in the DUI laws and takes the time to learn about any changes in the law system. Larry is highly respected by the judges and district attorney office staff. I was charged with a DUI in the past year. It wa...s my second offense in the past thirty years. My initial attorney was not showing much patience or interest in my case, so I looked around. I called Donald Ramsell and Associates, after reading great reviews on their firm. Their staff referred me to Larry. Upon our first meeting, I knew Larry was right for me. I decided to hire Larry as my attorney, and I have not regretted the move. Larry genuinely listens to his clients and takes all points under consideration. When he explains a point or procedure, he is patient and goes over the topic again until his client understands the situation. He is honest, but covers all points, even when the topic may be difficult to discuss. He truly cares about his clients. Larry charges a reasonable fee for his representation. His fees are no more than any other attorney I interviewed. I believe he could charge a higher fee than the rest of the DUI lawyers, and he would still be a great deal! His experience in the system and his keen observation skills provide an extra advantage for winning cases. He knows all the judges and DA staff and knows their tendencies and strategies. But there is nothing deviant in his approach. He is a fair player within the legal system, and the respect he receives from the judges and DA staff prove that. Larry worked with the system to get my DUI reduced to a reckless driving charge, with minimal additional components included. The outcome could have been much worse, since I made some mistakes that were incriminating and irrefutable at the time of the arrest. I am grateful that I looked around and discovered the fine representation that Larry provides. I would and will recommend Larry to anyone facing a DUI charge. He is your best bet in getting a favorable outcome.

The night I was pulled over and arrested for a DUI, I knew that I needed the best of the best when it came to hiring an attorney. This was my second offense. Although I was confident that I was innocent, I refused to take the breathalyzer test which is an automatic suspension of your driver’s licen...se. I was looking at five years with no driving privileges. Because I am not from the Chicago area, I had no idea who to hire. I called an attorney’s office that referred me to Lawrence Dohman. The attorney’s office told me that Mr. Dohman was the best of the best. The attorney’s office that I originally called was correct. Mr. Dohman is the best of the best. With only the evidence of a video tape, Mr. Dohman was able to have my summary suspension revoked, which I hear is almost unheard of. Basically, if you refuse to blow, you will lose your license. When the DUI trial began, Mr. Dohman used his extreme knowledge and skills, and because of his knowledge and skills, my entire DUI case was dismissed. A police officer of who works out of the same courthouse as Mr. Dohman described Mr. Dohman’s skills as nothing less than brilliant. Mr. Dohman will fight hard and do what it takes to win his cases. Mr. Dohman is also very polite and easy to work with. I never felt that I had to hide anything. Mr. Dohman is very easy to talk to and very comfortable to be around. His communication skills are superb; I always knew what was happening with the case as he went over every single detail with me with a fine tooth comb. I highly recommend Mr. Dohman when considering who to hire for a DUI case. As I stated, Mr. Dohman has the knowledge and skills that it takes to win a DUI case. Thanks to Mr. Dohman, I am now happily driving with a clean record.

I hired Mr. Dohman to defend me on a DUI charge from Hannover Park PD that occurred in January '14. I found out about Mr. Dohman through a police officer relative of mine who recommended Larry because of his experience at the Rolling Meadows courthouse. Throughout the entire ordeal, Larry acted pr...ofessionally and honestly. He kept me informed throughout the process and always responded within a day. We went to trial and won, despite me having an empty six pack of beer sitting shotgun and foolishly telling the officer "I'll win this because you don't have enough evidence". Going into the trial I was naturally a little worried, however during the trial Larry showed his expertise. After he cross-examined the arresting officer I knew I had won the case thanks to him. I didn't lose my drivers license either, which was a huge surprise to me. He was extremely knowledgeable of the Rolling Meadows courthouse and all other legal matters I asked him about. Not Guilty No jail time, court cost, alcohol counseling or revocation of drivers license I would highly recommend Mr. Dohman to anyone looking for a good attorney at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse. I have absolutely no complaints.

In 2013 I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a DUI and was prepared to pay top dollar for the best possible attorney to help me navigate through the legal system and was hopeful of the best possible outcome. I interviewed 4 different lawyers, and ended up selecting Lawrence Dohman becaus...e he was familiar with the Rolling Meadows courthouse scene and was very familiar with all of the judges. He indicated that he had strong relationships with many individuals in the court house, and gave a sense that his reputation could be leveraged to impact the outcome of my DUI charge. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I regretted my decision to hire Mr. Dohman as my attorney. First of all Mr. Dohman was handling several cases each time I was required to appear in court, and he was NOT ONCE on time for when court was in session. I felt like I was an inconvenience, and that my case was just a check mark in the box to get a paycheck. Mr. Dohman had to run from one court room to the next during each of my appearances, and several times I was called in front of the court and he was not present so my case was postponed until a later time. I have a full time job as a business professional, and as you can imagine working around court dates was a very sensitive matter for me as I did not want to miss work due to legal issues. Therefore I wanted to spend minimal time in the court room so I could still arrive at work in a timely fashion and make all of my client meetings. Upon checking in to the court room I would always request to be called as early as possible so that I did not have to sit in court for hours at a time. Unfortunately even though I was early and on time, Mr. Dohman was NOT on time. To my embarrassment, the judge actually called out Mr. Dohman for being late, and said in front of the entire court room that I (the client) was the only one responsible in our party and that he should be respectful of my time and his. Furthermore, the communication between Mr. Dohman and I was poor at best. I only heard from him if I initiated a phone call or a dialogue about our case. I expected a call the day before our court appearance to go over the details and confirm the court room and time, but I never once heard from him. As a result I decided to call Mr. Dohman each time before our court dates, and he very rarely called me back the same day. In fact, I had to call him several times and leave several messages before he would call me back. And for the money I was paying him I think that is a minimal expectation to have solid communication. After not hearing back from him I actually left him messages indicating that I was very upset he had not called back and that his service was not upholding my expectations. Overall, I would NOT recommend Lawrence Dohman, he did the absolute minimal amount of work to get through my court case and get paid. He didn't even appear at my final hearing to discharge me from court supervision (it's a good thing I decided to show up, even though he indicated it was taken care of). There are much better attorneys out there that charge the same amount, and will take better care of you and your case.

I was found guilty of what would of been by second DUI conviction. I had failed a field sobriety test and blew a .052. The prosecutor relied heavily on the field test and pushed for a conviction after hearing testimony form the arresting officer. The prosecutor did now mention the BAC score of .052 b...ut somehow convinced the judge to find me guilty. After the conviction Lawrence immediately filed a petition to ask the judge to reverse his decision of guilty. On the day of sentencing, the judge was asked to comment on the letter that stated the evidence was heavily weighed on the opinion of the field sobriety test done by and officer who had only one other arrest in 15 years along with his last training class being over 12 years old. The judge agreed that the decision was based on a 300 lbs man standing on one leg and counting would be impossible. The judge then changed his verdict to not guilty and dismissed the case. I was so relived after hearing this. I am not a irresponsible drinker yet alone consider my self a drinker. Lawrence is one attorney that works hard for his clients and really earns his paycheck. I would recommend Lawrence to everyone.
