Ms. Keegan has been lead defense counsel on thousands of cases of all types and levels, ranging from serious felonies to minor traffic offenses. Additionally, Kelly handles post-conviction matters such as expungement, probation violations, Department of Human Services background study disqualifications, reinstatement of the right to possess firearms, and sentence modification motions. She has represented clients under investigation prior to being formally charged, as well as clients facing grand jury indictment. Kelly is admitted to practice in Minnesota State Court as well as Federal United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. She enjoys working in the courtroom and has obtained excellent results for clients, including dismissal of charges, suppression of evidence, and acquittal by felony jury.

Kelly is an executive board member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a group of prominent defense attorneys throughout the state who work to impact policy and legislation on behalf of criminal defendants. In that role she has testified before State Senate and State House of Representatives Committees at the Minnesota State Capitol on legislative initiatives impacting crime and public safety. She has been extremely active in working to reform expungement law in Minnesota. She has been a featured speaker and taught at numerous continuing legal education seminars, which are educational courses for fellow attorneys to keep up-to-date on recent developments in criminal law. She was also a judicially appointed State Ethics Board Ethics Investigator, responding to and investigating ethics complaints concerning other attorneys.

Kelly Keegan did an awesome job resulting in all charges being dismissed.
I was wrongfully charged with 5th degree assault when I defended myself after being struck by an intoxicated person. Unfortunately, my accuser lied to the police which resulted in me being charged. Kelly came highly recommended and absolutely lived up to her excellent reputation. Kelly and her team diligently compiled all the evidence, tracked down the witnesses who vouched for my innocence, then presented it to the prosecuting attorney who rightfully concluded I was innocent and eventually dismissed all charges. Kelly thoroughly explained the legal process up front and made it as easy and stress free as possible. Her experience, professionalism, kindness, and strong communication skills got the result I hoped for. Her flat fee for my defense was very reasonable as well, especially considering the high quality of her work. If you're ever in a situation where you need a criminal defense advocate, she's the real deal and should be your first call.

Kelly is a fantastic Attorney
Kelly helped me with a gun rights issue that stemmed from an issue that was over thirty years old. Everything Kelly told me would happen, did happen. There was no overpromise, under deliver. She spells everything out for you upfront and is very honest about what the primary obstacles are and how they need to be addressed. Her fees are reasonable, and she is very transparent about the fee's. I would highly recommend her for any gun rights issues, she really knows the laws pertaining to gun rights. Thanks Kelly!

A Great Team
I contacted Kelly late last year about clearing up an issue that has sat on my record for 20+ years. She and her team got to work and were able to get me a court date, explain all the paperwork, and helped restore my gun rights in the state of MN with not much effort on my part. I reviewed the process one would undergo to do this on their own and to say it was confusing would be an understatement. Kelly and her team walked me through every step of the process and did the leg work to get me prepped. The virtual court appearance was a bit of a non-event as Kelly had laid out all the points to the DA who contacted her prior to the court appearance to state they had no objections. My one regret is waiting 25 years to do something about this, and not calling Kelly sooner.

Without Question the Very Best!
Using any other lawyer would be a huge mistake. After extensive research, Kelly was the clear choice. The pre-agreement interview was so thorough and informative. I had absolute confidence Kelly would get the best possible outcome. In fact, she did! Kelly went beyond expectations to work with the Prosecutor directly and help me cope with legalistic anxiety. Kelly, with her outstanding legal knowledge, and caring, had 6 felonies dismissed, my firearm rights restored, and my guns returned to me as she had told me she would do. Kelly is the best lawyer a person can get.

I hired Kelly to get my gun rights restored and she did not disappoint. In 1997 i was convicted on a felony drug case and was told that i was never allowed to own a firearm again. After speaking with kelly i felt confident about my restoration chances and hired her. Kelly is very knowledgeable and was always available to answer my questions and trust me i had alot of questions...if you need the BEST attorney look no further you have found her...

Was referred to Kelly by another lawyer back in spring. After the initial meeting I felt very comfortable, hopeful, and so I moved forward. Goodbye $ lol...no regrets. From start to finish both Kelly and Leigh were very responsive and they kept me informed as the process went on step by step. Plus, they're both very very nice, so yeah - "icing on the cake". Restoration of gun rights
After a felony conviction, I hired Ms Keegan to help me get my gun rights restored. From the minute I met with her, I knew I was in good hands. She clearly laid everything out for me. I was so impressed by how organized and prepared she was every time I met with her. Due to the pandemic, our court date was virtual. When she was speaking to the judge during our virtual court, she was not only prepared for our time before the judge but she was ready with specific past cases that set a precedent in this matter. I am so happy to say that she was successful in getting my gun rights restored!! I will be happy to refer her to anyone that needs an amazing criminal attorney!!
