Unprofessional and lackadaisical, unless collecting legal fees.

I’d like to state up front that I was happy with the result in my case. My divorce only dealt with financial issues — it was a short-term marriage and my ex settled for a considerable sum, so I am not a disgruntled former client who lost custody or had to pay money, etc. That said, my experience with... Ms. Cooper was not good. I found her to be quite unprofessional — she took weeks (yes weeks) to respond to a voice-mail or email or didn’t answer at all. I kept my questions to a minimum in order to keep fees down so she would be hard pressed to claim I was one of those clients who pestered her constantly with questions. I very rarely received any proactive communication, including status updates, which forced me to chase down information and made me feel disconnected from the process. I was a sliding-scale fee client and definitely felt like my case was always on the back burner. It took her 9 MONTHS to draft and file a QDRO so that I could get my settlement money. When I asked about the delay, she blamed it on the opposing attorney. When I asked more details about that and how it affected my fees, I was completely ignored. Like other reviewers have mentioned, she is more diligent about collecting her fees than handling her cases. I paid her a monthly fee for well over a year and was on time every month except for one month I needed one extra day until payday. Ms. Cooper threatened to withdraw from my case. Then at the end, after I thought I was paid up, she sent (via email) a final bill that I didn’t see. Without a follow-up to inquire/remind me about the bill, I received an email threatening to sue me for $84 plus court costs and legal fees. I felt like this was a totally inappropriate way to handle it. I absolutely would not recommend Cooper Law.

It is unfortunate that you would write this review after the incredible result in your case and the professional work we did for you. There is one thing we agree on - the result reached in your case was amazing! In my opinion, the rest of your comments are not an accurate representation of what happened in your case or how your matter was handled. I have reached out to discuss this matter with you and am open to discussing it. I truly do not wish to have someone I considered a great client going away with negative feelings. Please feel free to call me at anytime to hopefully clear up this misunderstanding so that you can have a positive outcome and opinion after we had such a great result in your case. Excellent lawyer - Highly recommend

Emily not only provided me with excellent legal representation from start to finish; she also was instrumental with helping me find my voice and confidence following a difficult divorce. When I hired Emily, she was open and honest about her approach, delivered the facts, fought hard for me, was patie...nt with me and helped me to understand my rights. She took time to answer my questions and settle my fears. A courtroom can be intimidating and with her by my side, I always felt I was in good hands. Her representation made all the difference for the end result where we "won" a long battle. She was also conscious of fees and never over-charged. It has been a couple years since winning our case and I will forever be grateful to her for not only her hard work and professionalism, but also for her humanity. She treated me with such patience, dignity and respect, never talking down to me. I never felt like just a "case". I would recommend Emily to anyone in need of legal representation. She knows her stuff, cares about her clients, is professional yet human, is tough, fact-based and will fight for what is right. Because of Emily, I feel a renewed sense of hope and faith that with persistence and patience, the right people come along who will stand by and with you for what is right and just.

Great lawyer, I'm very happy I hired her.

Emily Cooper represented me in a post divorce custody case issue. She was helpful, knowledgable, reliable, and knew how to navigate through the legal system. (And we won!) I will turn to her again in the future if needs arise and would gladly an openly recommend her services to others in the futu...re.
