Anthony William Bushnell

Anthony Bushnell is the lawyer to call when you need help immediately. Whether answering questions for a driver in the middle of the night before testing for DWI or working quickly to get someone released from jail, Mr. Bushnell is available 24/7 and ready to go to work. In the courtroom, he takes command of the situation and stands up for the rights of his clients. Ready to aggressively challenge the state to put its case to the test at trial, he has completed numerous criminal jury trials and bench trials and handled hundreds of cases in pre-trial stage. Mr. Bushnell has argued cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals, including getting an order against his client thrown out because the opposing party didn't give his client fair notice of the action. He is also an experienced civil trial attorney and handles many litigation matters including orders for protection and harassment restraining orders. He practices in Minnesota state courts and in Federal Court for the District of Minnesota.

In addition to defending people in court, Mr. Bushnell handles expungement of criminal records for people who need a record sealed because they are denied employment or otherwise hurt by it, and can also help people with expunging Department of Human Services (DHS) records.

Trial practice has been a passion for Mr. Bushnell for nearly 20 years, reflected in all of his college and law school training. He received his legal education at the University of Minnesota Law School, which is consistently ranked among the top 20 law schools in the United States. He graduated with honors in 2005 and was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar that same year.

During college, he was consistently recognized for his outstanding skills in trial advocacy. He earned a number of awards at national and local tournaments for his skill as an attorney in college mock trial, and participated in the national tournament each year he competed. During the last year of college and for three years prior to attending law school, Mr. Bushnell worked in several law firms and gained a wide variety of experience with legal practice and procedure. He enthusiastically plays strategy games of all kinds and enjoys finding a tough challenger in chess.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Bushnell has also served as a board member and vice-president of the Minnesota Chapter of Christian Legal Society, and has volunteered his time at the Twin Cities Christian Legal Aid clinic. Mr. Bushnell makes a priority to spend time talking about the practice of law with students enrolled in law school, including serving as an adjunct Lawyering Program Instructor at the University of Minnesota Law School for the 2009-2010 class year. He also teaches the entire criminal and traffic code to students in law enforcement training as adjunct faculty at The University of Northwestern - Saint Paul.
