Great Man

In 2014 Mr. Bugni and I suppressed the evidence from a illegal stop . The fire that burns inside of Mr. Bugni is unlike any other lawyer I've ever dealt with . This guy is a straight shooter and he's very crafty in presenting things in the court room . Joseph wasn't only my lawyer , he was a friend a...nd everyone who I have encountered along the way that had the pleasure of working with Mr. Bugni feels the same way . I speak for a lot of guys in federal prison when I say , their isn't a better man , from the bottom of my heart , thanks Mr. Bugni .

Brilliant and Exceptional Lawyer

I am writing to thank you and your office wholeheartedly for a job well done. The services provided by Attorneys Joseph Bugni, Shelley Fite, and Attorney Peter Moyers (“the team”) is the epitome in terms of what it means to be brilliant and exceptional lawyers. It would be a true blessing for anyone ...who finds themselves in federal legal trouble to acquire an attorney from Federal Defender Services of Wisconsin, Inc. Whatever the outcome, a client can rest assured; your office will continue to fight until there is no fighting left. All avenues will be explored and exhausted. Federal Defender Services of Wisconsin, Inc. vigorously litigated my case for over 4 years with the best possible outcome. I went from an armed career criminal with a sentence of 180 months to time-served. While the outcome in my case may not be typical, what is truly evident is the hard work and dedication the attorneys from Wisconsin Federal Defenders, Inc. will put into every case. Thank you for all that your office has done.

I lost my soul.

When I was indicted by a grand jury I couldn’t imagine how I was going to get through the process. When I met Joe and his staff I kept waiting for something bad to happen and it never did. They never put on “airs” or made me feel like this accused criminal. They were warm, knowledgeable, caring, frie...ndly and filled with compassion. They were always there and stood with me along the entire process. Joe shares my Catholic faith and lives this faith daily. He treats everyone with dignity and respect. He drove from Madison four hours to my home to meet with me. He called just to check on me about medical issues. He cared about my sons and my grandchildren and how they were doing. When the Care Act was signed he contacted me in prison. He wrote to me “Deb, I am going to do everything I can to get you out.” AND he did. If you want to face the truth and be treated fairly and with dignity and be a better person, meet with Joe. I promise you will never regret it. -I’ll always be grateful- Debbi Marcellus

Hardworking Dedicated & Effective

My first time getting in trouble with the law was difficult and confusing. My first lawyer was very nonchalant and unbothered about any and everything to do with my case. 14 days before court i decided to change lawyers which was a risk but I prayed and was directed to Joseph Bungi. He is fast paced,... consistent, straight forward and to the point, dedicated to the task at hand, and works to make sure you get what you deserved. If I were ever to have any other legal problems I would not hesitated to hire him. For a great lawyer you don't have to look any further.

Thoughtful and Caring Attention Before and After Case

I'm just going to start out and say it. I had an extremely bizarre case. It exemplified the extremes of what happens when the government leaves no stone unturned trying to convict someone of terrorism that they know is not a terrorist. I didn't meet Joe until the first bond hearing. Throughout th...e proceeding months things would be tumultuous, I was certainly not at all an easy client to work with. But Joe showed me respect and decency. The first year he even showed up on Christmas Eve. He recognized the injustice of what was happening and tried his best. And because of this representation I became the first person to ever beat a nuclear terrorism charge. And he continued to communicate after the case as well. What happened in my case genuinely concerned him. And the injustices of the Federal system genuinely bother him he isn't a federal defender just for the money. If you're lucky enough to get Joe Bugni and/or Peter Moyers (the other attorney in my case), consider yourself lucky. Unfortunately due to how the federal system is structured you may not have much of a chance regardless of who you go with. But if you don't win it won't be due to passion with Joe or Peter.
