Anthony D. Cotton

Attorney Cotton had represented me for a number of years. My particular case was complicated, and flooded with bureaucratic nonsense. Atty. Cotton was committed to getting favorable results, whenever possible. Atty. Cotton effectively took on the WI-DOC and their OLC (Office of Legal Counsel), in a W...rit of Habeas Corpus. Additionally, he was able to convey enough of a threat to make the system comply, resorting to attempting to have the respondent incarcerated for contempt. Mr.Cotton has helped me several times and eatch time has been successful to drop my charges or atleast get me into a better situation than I was headed in. My first case I was getting charged with attempted armed robbery (felony) and Mr.Cotton got my charges dropped to a non felony theft charge witch... resulted in no jail time and little amount of probation time. Later on I hired Mr.Cotton to represent me in a Case where I had my second possestion charge of THC witch is a felony in Wisconsin after your second charge , and Mr.Cotton went to the police station and talked to the officers and got my charged dropped into just a ticket instead of the felony charge. In another separate case for an OWI and another possession charge Mr.Cotton was successful into getting my felony possession charge dropped also after talking to the district attorney. Overall Mr.Cotton has been sucesfull all three of my times ive hired him. I've never had to sit a day in jail with any case after I hired Mr.Cotton. Anthony works hard and does extra work behind the scenes that many lawyers arn't willing to put the time into doing.

I hired Tony after reading various lawyers reviews here on Avvo. I had an outstanding charge and warrant from over 20 years ago. Tony not only took the time to listen to me, he also asked me to write all of the details out that I could remember to bring to the Prosecutor. Tony really was a voice for ...me. Furthermore, when there was any new information he would updating me immediately. Anthony successfully represented me in my case which involved charges of; 1st offense OWI, OWI causing injury, and failing to yield to pedestrians. He was able secure an agreement from the prosecution in which I plead guilty to a first offense OWI and in exchange all other pending charges were dismis...sed. This was an extremely favorable outcome for me given that the "OWI causing injury" charge in and of itself was a criminal offense; carrying a 30 day jail sentence, a period of probation, and mandatory Ignition Interlock Device. In fact, the presiding judge even made a point upon the conclusion of our case to commend Anthony on the work he did in resolving my case and the extremely favorable ruling he was able to obtain for me! From the minute I hired Anthony to represent me he went straight to work; representing me in my initial DMV hearing Anthony was able to procure a postponement of the DMV's suspension of my license, pending conviction. This allowed me to operate my vehicle with no driving restriction during or requirement of SR-22 the entire period of time in which the case was being resolved, this was huge since my case dragged on for over 6 months. My meetings with Anthony were brief, to the point, and were held only when necessary as we moved forward with the case proceedings. Throughout the entire process Anthony kept me informed of the case proceedings, as well educated me on what I could and couldn't (realistically) expect as the case developed. I've had the opportunity to talk to other individuals who have been in a similar situation and how the worst part of the entire process for them was the stress they felt as they continuously worried throughout the duration of their case proceedings, not knowing what was going on and having little confidence in the likely success their lawyer could achieve for them; an experience I could not relate to having not given any consideration or thought to the possibility of me being convicted of the criminal charges against me, during the entire 6 months plus that had passed. It is for this reason, Anthony's ability to earn my trust and confidence that I recommend him without hesitation; in addition to being good at what he does and achieving desirable results. I think what is most often forgotten by individuals when choosing and hiring on a defense lawyer is the value placed on having peace of mind.
