Charles William Malette

I hired Charles about a year ago for a marijuana possession and for a custody battle. Case dismissed on the marijuana due to medical marijuana defense and we reached a good settlement for the custody matter even though it took awhile because of my ex's lawyer. Fair priced and good payment plans, di...dn't jack up the bill, attended all court dates and kept me informed. Pretty easy to get ahold of and returns calls on weekends. He met with me in the evening due to my work schedule and had no problems accommodating me. I could not attend a hearing due to an illness and he took care of it for me.

I asked Charles Malette to help my son who got a rape charge. We had lots of witnesses. We gave him all the names and phone numbers and he called 1 person 5 days before the case was to go to court. But he never talked to her. He never returned her call when she called him back. We told him the 1 pe...rson had spoke to the person who made the charge at the ER when she first went to the er. and he never called anyone else. I told Mr. Malette that it would be ok to say he didn't want to help with the case and get a court order lawyer for my son. We didn't have a lot of money to pay him. He said he was ready. But the day before trial. He had my son take a very bad plea. He told him he would get work release and only get jail time. He's looking at some very bad stuff before of Mr.malette. We believe that Mr.Malette was working with the Prosecutor to help them not my son. We have tried to get Mr.Malette to get a court order lawyer and he filed paperwork after 3 weeks after the plea was taken. He never told my son that when he went to the PO's offices that the minute he walked in her offices she would put him on the CSC list. She did. Mr. Malette told my son yesterday , at 6:30pm 8-21-2013 about a DNA test for today 8-22-2013 which he would have received on 8-20-2013. The test cost $95. That we didn't have. If he didn't take the test he would go right to JAIL. We tried to get Mr.Malette to help change the date but he won't and the court couldn't help without Mr. Malette. We did give Mr. Malette money to file a witness list for the trial, which he did not do and he also did not subpoena any witnesses for my son. He did not keep in touch with my son during any of this time and when my son or I would call him, he would not return our calls. He was also told by the judge that if he could not afford to do the case then to get my son a court appointed attorney, he told the judge that he could do it.

My sister recommended Charles after he helped her with a custody battle. Charles met with me whenever I needed him including weekends and after hours because of my work schedule. He helped me reach a wonderful settlement regarding a child support and custody battle. He knows his way around the cou...rtroom. The retainer and costs were fair.

Held my money and did not file a claim for over one year, excuse after excuse, knows I am broke, knows I had a valid claim, promised to file at least 30 times in E-mails on specific dates. Does not want to return money owed me, justifies his crap - PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT HIRE HIM, GRIEVA...NCE CURRANTLY FILED WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL IN MICHIGAN, I FULLY EXPECT SANCTIONS OR THAT HE WILL LOSE HIS LISCENSE - THIS MAN DOES NOT WHAT THE HELL HE IS DOING ON A LEGAL BASIS.
