John R. Foley

In his words, Mr. Foley said my divorce settlement was the worst he’d ever seen”. Well, he was my attorney and I expected that he would get me the best settlement possible. Obviously to me, the opposing counsel did the exemplary job. Mr. Foley did not take the time to walk me through the divorce set...tlement to explain all the terms, but made sure he took the time to send me his bills in a timely fashion.

Mr. Foley was my attorney in a very difficult custody dispute. Mr. Foley was an excellent negotiator and a fantastic orator in Court. The Judges listened to his arguments. He was able to quickly and effectively explain my rights and the possible solutions. I highly recommend Mr. Foley as an attorney!...!!

I retained John R. Foley and his son Patrick Foley in early 2014 after leaving another attorney. It was like a light was turned on, and the confusion ended there. Mr. Foley explained everything to me in detail, but with simple, understandable explanations. He took over and got aggressive; not arrogan...t or unfriendly, just aggressive. I went from being "on the ropes" with every-other-weekend, 2 overnights, to nearly 50/50 time with my children. We prepared for trial and showed up ready, my ex caved the morning of trial. I could not be more pleased with my representation.

This lawyer promised me he was going to get me the child support I deserved because my daughters father was lying about his income. When my support recommendation was made and was based on a false income my ex was reporting, I had 21 days to object. It was a couple days before the 21 days were up and... he said the court would investigate his income on their own, that I didn't need to file objections. Thankfully, I found another lawyer that told me the truth that the court would never investigate that on their own. Prior to me firing him I mentioned that we would probably have to do a deposition and he told me I couldn't afford that and he knew how much money I made. I thought that was rude because I always paid him promptly. I told him I had money and people to help me out, but he instead degraded me by the previously mentioned comment.

Unfortunately, John did not seem to have the time nor the discipline necessary to organize, follow up and communicate with me. Though perhaps well meaning and obviously experienced, he approached my case as if I do this all the time and understand the process and next steps involved in a divorce sett...lement. He enjoyed talking about his life and his experience and pontificating about his other cases in lieu of listening and taking notes on the one in front of him. This lead to multiple conversations about the same topics...all billable. Expect to have to call, email and follow up frequently to know where you stand, what the next steps entail and how things are progressing...And expect to pay for his time responding. John was not prepared, drafted incomplete and erroneous documents multiple times (billable as well)...all the way to the day of my settlement where, unable to attend, he inadvertently forgot to draft and send important documents needed to finalize the divorce. His admin staff is wonderful and did their best to assist...Divorce is difficult enough. Find an attentive attorney willing to take the time and make the effort to help guide you through it.
