Our immigration system can be confusing or even scary. I believe in being your voice and your partner as move through the immigration process. I represent noncitizens, their families, and their employers in family and employment-based cases, green card applications, nonimmigrant visa applications, naturalization applications, removal and deportation defense, asylum applications, and federal litigation.
I am a nationally recognized and award winning immigration law attorney. I have successfully litigated many important cases.

Immigration advice session
Helpful for the most part, but did not provide any information that was not generally available with a quick internet search. Also, he is licensed in Washington, but said he did not know Washington marriage law as it relates to immigration. He suggested I speak to a family lawyer in WA to answer my q...
Thank you for your review. I am sorry that I was not able to answer all of your questions. I am licensed to practice in the states of Washington and Michigan and I can practice immigration law throughout the country. Although licensed in Washington state, my office is located in Michigan and I generally do not handle state law matters arising in Washington. Hence my inability during a quick 15 minute phone call to provide you with detailed answers about a family law matter in Washington. Avvo calls are a great way to get basic information about a matter but they are not a good way to get detailed step-by-step instructions. Before a prudent attorney can provide this level of advice, the attorney will need to spend longer than 15 minutes speaking with you and reviewing your documents. The attorney will also need to enter into an attorney-client agreement so that there will be an attorney-client relationship. My suggestion is to use the 15 minute consultation to get a general picture of the issues you are dealing with and then to enter into a formal relationship with an attorney to provide you with specific advice on how to proceed.

One of The Best Immigration Lawyers Ever
We have a very difficult Asylum case that ended up with a removal decision, and through the last 2 years working with 3 different attorneys, it just got more complicated and finally closed, until we start to change the way we decide who is the right attorney with the experience we need to win the cas...
"I endorse attorney Abrutyan for the powerful legal precedent Prudize v. U.S. Atty. Gen. on the BIA's jurisdiction to reopen despite the so called "departure bar." This precedent is a significant change in law in the pro-immigrant direction."
"I endorse this lawyer. He is a thoughtful & talented layer. His help on an Immigration Court matter was critical to our success. He earns his 5 stars with hard work and diligence."
"I consulted Mr. Abrutyn for his expert opinion on a complex immigration matter. He has in-depth knowledge and is quick to see solutions and possibilities."
"I endorse Russell. He is very knowledgeable in immigration and nationality law and shares his knowledge abundantly with other immigration attorneys."
"I endorse Mr. Abrutyn. He demonstrates an impressive knowledge of the law based on his accurate legal answers on Avvo. He is an asset to the legal field and respected by colleagues."
"I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer. A brilliant, trustworthy and highly respected attorney in the legal community."
"Attorney Russell Abrutyn is, quite simply, one of the best immigration lawyers around. Mr. Abrutyn has received national awards for his legal advocacy and for his mentoring of other lawyers. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding many important issues in immigration law, and he is also extremely generous with his mentoring of other lawyers (including myself). I give Mr. Abrutyn my highest endorsement."
"Mr. Abrutyn is one of the most well versed and knowledgeable immigration attorneys I know. I highly endorse him!"
