Mr. Hamawi has extensive expertise in insurance coverage, business negotiations, and commercial litigation. He focuses his practice on representing businessowners, homeowners, property owners, and other insurance policyholders in fire, property damage, and insurance-coverage disputes with insurance companies and in errors-and-omissions cases against insurance agents. He has successfully litigated hundreds of cases against insurance companies and insurance agents, and recovered millions of dollars for his clients. He has also litigated cases against residential and commercial builders, restoration companies, and fire repair contractors.

Mr. Hamawi has also litigated cases against towing and storage companies for charging consumers unreasonable and excessive towing and storage costs, and for wrongfully determining vehicles to be abandoned. He has also litigated cases involving breach of commercial lease agreements, commercial real estate transactions, commercial purchase agreements, and sales commissions agreements.

Mr. Hamawi has represented insurance agents, financial advisors, stockbrokers, and public insurance adjusters in regulatory or other disciplinary actions initiated by governmental agencies.

Mr. Hamawi holds licenses in Property, Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health insurance. He is a Licensed multiple lines Property and Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Counselor (LIC). He earned the prestigious Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®), Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations. He previously served as a managing principal for an insurance and financial services agency, where he managed two offices and built a multi-million-dollar book of business.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi interned for the Honorable John Corbett O’Meara, Federal Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He also interned for the United States Department of Justice in the United States Attorney’s Office in Detroit.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi also served on the Cooley Law Review Board of Editors as a Symposium Editor, where he received the Law Review Board Award for the most significant contributions to the Law Review Board during his tenure. He also served on the Moot Court and Mock Trial Executive Boards, and was a member of Cooley’s National Trial Team. Upon graduation, he received the Student Leadership Achievement Award for his outstanding participation in a leadership role during law school. He is bilingual and fluent in Arabic.

Mr. Hamawi has also taught as an adjunct professor teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Personal and Corporate Finance, Risk Management, and Insurance and Financial Planning at the University of Phoenix, Davenport University, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Attorney Rabih Hamawi (Highly Reccommend!!!)

Knowledgeable, diligent, strategic, and reliable are a few of the many words that come to mind when I think about attorney Rabih Hamawi and my experience with him. When I initially brought him my case, he informed me that resolving it would be a challenge but he would do the best he could. And he did...! He always kept me up to date, thought 2 and 3 steps ahead, and his years of expertise in the field gave us the best strategy to get my case resolved. Results! Check!

Owning and operating a small business is a combination of joy and pain. There is the joy of meeting our neighbors and sharing with them our passion for coffee and community. And the pain of fixing problems that can happen on a daily basis with business operations that require quick resolution. But th...en there are problems that happen that are caused by others and are beyond your control. When that happens help is needed. We ran into this type of problem in June 2019 when an industrial accident caused sewage to back up into our business through floor drains, made our restroom inoperable, and damaged several other spaces in the building where our business is located. After months of trying to negotiate a settlement with the contractor and its parent company without any resolution, we sought the advice of an attorney to seek restitution for the damages caused to our business location and operations. We met with Attorney Rabih Hamawi and he became our advocate and counsel. He advised us on the best strategy to pursue a resolution with this company that was unwilling to negotiate with us. He filed a lawsuit on our behalf and got their attention. They came to the table and listened to him and he was able to negotiate a settlement with them without having to go to trial. A settlement that was much higher than what we thought is possible and almost double the amount we had initially hoped for. Results achieved. Problem solved. Attorney Hamawi came to our defense and solved our problem, all of this during the COVID-19 Corona Virus pandemic, within six months of hire, and saving us the time and considerable cost of a trial.
