Mr. Hamawi has extensive expertise in insurance coverage, business negotiations, and commercial litigation. He focuses his practice on representing businessowners, homeowners, property owners, and other insurance policyholders in fire, property damage, and insurance-coverage disputes with insurance companies and in errors-and-omissions cases against insurance agents. He has successfully litigated hundreds of cases against insurance companies and insurance agents, and recovered millions of dollars for his clients. He has also litigated cases against residential and commercial builders, restoration companies, and fire repair contractors.

Mr. Hamawi has also litigated cases against towing and storage companies for charging consumers unreasonable and excessive towing and storage costs, and for wrongfully determining vehicles to be abandoned. He has also litigated cases involving breach of commercial lease agreements, commercial real estate transactions, commercial purchase agreements, and sales commissions agreements.

Mr. Hamawi has represented insurance agents, financial advisors, stockbrokers, and public insurance adjusters in regulatory or other disciplinary actions initiated by governmental agencies.

Mr. Hamawi holds licenses in Property, Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health insurance. He is a Licensed multiple lines Property and Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Counselor (LIC). He earned the prestigious Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®), Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations. He previously served as a managing principal for an insurance and financial services agency, where he managed two offices and built a multi-million-dollar book of business.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi interned for the Honorable John Corbett O’Meara, Federal Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He also interned for the United States Department of Justice in the United States Attorney’s Office in Detroit.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi also served on the Cooley Law Review Board of Editors as a Symposium Editor, where he received the Law Review Board Award for the most significant contributions to the Law Review Board during his tenure. He also served on the Moot Court and Mock Trial Executive Boards, and was a member of Cooley’s National Trial Team. Upon graduation, he received the Student Leadership Achievement Award for his outstanding participation in a leadership role during law school. He is bilingual and fluent in Arabic.

Mr. Hamawi has also taught as an adjunct professor teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Personal and Corporate Finance, Risk Management, and Insurance and Financial Planning at the University of Phoenix, Davenport University, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Property damage

In 2018, a car crashed into my fish market causing extensive damage to the building and business personal property. I tried to file a claim with the no-fault insurance company of the owner of the car, but never received a response from anyone. I then got in touch with Mr. Hamawi, who impressed me wit...h his knowledge of the law and the litigation process. Mr. Hamawi filed a lawsuit on my business’s behalf, and fully recovered all damages to my business. Mr. Hamawi took the time to fully explain the process, including what to expect during the lawsuit. He was patient, professional, and detailed. He answered my questions, and promptly returned my phone calls and answered my emails. He fought for me and won my case. I will never hesitate to recommend him to any business suffering fire, property damage, or any other property damage.

Broken pipe in basement

My husband and I had an insurance claim against our homeowner’s policy due to a broken pipe in our basement. There was extensive damage in our basement due to the flow of water from the broken pipe and our lack of knowledge that the situation was occurring. Our insurance company denied the claim, wit...hout much of an investigation on their part. At that point, we thought we would have to incur the entire costs to remediate and restore our basement. A few months later I was introduced to Rabih Hamawi, attorney at law, at a networking event. Rabih explained to me that he specialized in law to protect homeowners from denial of claims from their insurance company. My husband and I then met with Rabih to see if we had a case against our insurance company. After thorough review of all of the facts, Rabih told us the insurance company had overlooked some specific riders on our policy and we did have a case against the company. Rabih spent time with us going over the details of our policy and prepared us for the depositions that occurred. Rabih became very familiar with our case and was diligent at keeping us in the loop with correspondence from the insurance company. We feel that Rabih’s attention to detail was the determining factor in us being awarded a settlement in our case. We would highly recommend Rabih Hamawi for his knowledge of the law and his personable approach to working with his clients.

Your law firm was great to deal with, you always got back to me even when you were on vacation. You were very knowledgeable in my case and gave great advise. ...Along with being polite and very understanding during a very frustrating time dealing with the fire that destroyed my home. Fire Insurance Recovery
