David James Steele

I really don't know where to start. David was the ONLY attorney who would even talk to me on the phone without wanting money first or being really rude and basically hanging up on me after 30 seconds. He called me back after I left him a voicemail. i didn't expect that after all the jerks I had tal...ked to. He talked to me for 70 minutes. I swear to God. At 6:00 at night. And never asked me for a dime for spending over an hour with someone who just called him. And at that point, I didn't know what to think. Was he a little crazy? Was he this desperate for a client...why would he go to such phenomenal lengths to help me? It wasn't until later, when I became a client, I realized that he is one of the biggest lawyers in Indy, if not the whole state. And once I got to know him and I saw what he did to my husband's attorney in court, it is ABSOLUTELY not a surprise to me. And trust me - he's exceptionally busy. He often called me as late as 10:00; i mean, he was always working and he still made me feel like I was his only client and that his whole company hinged on whether or not he won. And by winning I mean getting me custody of my two girls. I would have died if I lost them. I simply would have died. And he did all this while his phone, his receptionist's phone, his paralegal's phone and his associate lawyer's phones were ringing off the hook. And in court...I just don't know how to describe it. He was so much better at what he does than the other lawyer, it just made the man look silly. My husband was losing his sh%$ the entire time because it was so obviously not going his way and david just got cooler and calmer as it went on and that just drove him more nuts. Which then rattled his attorney. And David was unflappable.. He even started smiling really subtly at my husband at his table when no one was looking. it was straight out of a movie. trust me - he deserved everything david gave him. I don't know what else to say. I've never once logged onto the internet to review anything or post anything. But david got me my girls by working harder and smarter and honestly just caring more than anyone else. and he did it all for the original retainer as he promised he would try to do though he couldn't guarantee it. I paid $3,000 to start and while I don't know exactly how lawyers work, I know that at his hourly rate, we went WAY WAY over $3,000. But he knew I was absolutely broke because my husband left us high and dry and I had to borrow the money of my aunt and uncle. He always acted like I had money left on my retainer and I know it was because he didn't want to make me feel like a charity case. And the frustrating part is there was absolutely no way on God's earth I can adequately thank him. What do you do for someone who rescued your life? and in such a cool and almost fun way (he's absolutely hilarious, by the way - you will feel comfortable with him in about 30 seconds)? So I tried to write something on his website to at least try to say thank you but there's no way to thank him on his site but I found this link. Then I read all the other people he helped and it's just amazing. every one of us had the same experience. He seriously is the #1 divorce/custody lawyer in Indiana. There's no question. Does anyone else have reviews like this? Anywhere? David - I know you don't read these but if you ever do, know that I am crying as I write this and I will never be able to thank you enough. You saved me. You saved my daughters and only you and I know what you saved them from. Thank you.

It was immediately clear that David's main concern was winning. It was not money. Every other lawyer I called only talked money. This was my first time using the legal system and I was nervous and clueless. David couldn't have been more patient and I doubt he could have been more knowledgable. I...t was very obvious he has been doing only this for ten years. He got everything possible for me out of my divorce which wasn't exactly amicable. He did it while keeping everything friendly and never charged me a dime over my initial retainer. He could have run my bill up but instead, he kept doing things without charging me. I mean, he seriously did not charge me for about every other phone call or email. He said in the beginning that he would respond to every email and every phone call. I did not expect him to be quite that serious. Every single time I called, he called back. Every time I wrote an email, he wrote back. Every time something happened, he called to tell me. It honestly got to the point where my now ex-wife called ME to find out what was happening because she knew my lawyer told me immediately and she could never get a hold of her lawyer (who she paid more for, by the way). God, that was satisfying! I just can't recommend David enough. And judging by the other reviews I read, neither can any of his other clients.

I contacted Mr. Steele to represent me in a child support issue. I left his office after about a 1 hour long meeting , I felt very confident that I was in good hands. Mr. Steele was knowldgeable on family law, returnd my phone calls promptly and kept me up to date on the progress of the case. Mr. St...eele gave me his cell phone and told me that if I ever had any questions to contact him day or night. I would not hesitate to contact him in the future and I would also highly recommend him to anyone.

I contacted David Steele along with probably 20 other lawyers about a child custody case. I couldn't get hardly ANY attorneys to even email me back with even a direction on where to go with my case without paying at least $1000 before even talking at all. Not only was he one of the ONLY attorney...s to contact me back, he emailed me at 1am on his own time explaining EVERYTHING that had to do with my case. Along with emailing me, I also talked to him via phone where he gave me his personal cell phone which lawyers just do not do unless they truly care. We emailed back and forth almost 30 times before I ever agreed to even come in to meet with him and he never asked for a dime for all the free consultations. After agreeing to meet with him, he didn't charge me at all for the whole in person consultation either. He told me absolutely everything I wanted to hear when it comes to being a mother fighting for a child. He gave me a great discount as far as a retainer & he has done everything in his power to save me money. I almost paid a " cheap " attorney that I had found which he talked me out of because he knew it was someone trying to take my money and nothing else. He absolutely fought for everything that I wanted when it came to custody, visitation, child support, etc,. and of course he won. He didn't agree to sign anything or take the easy way out to be lazy; he absoutlely worked his butt off to get me what I wanted. It was all about making ME happy. I have had NOTHING but wonderful experiences with Mr. Steele. He's VERY personable & he kept me up to date almost daily on my case whether it was through email, phone, or in person. I absolutely adore him and have referred him to many others. I'd go back to him for any issue that I have. Any amount of money that I paid was WELL worth it and the amount I did pay was absolutely reasonable. He spent so much time and effort on my case, making me happy, & winning. I'd never use anyone else! If you're looking for a winner, David Steele is absolutely your man!

I first contacted Mr. Steele when I was making my decision about whether or not to divorce. He spent a substantial amount of time talking to me about options, and letting me share with him what was happening in my life. At no time did I feel rushed nor judged. When I had my first meeting with Mr.... Steele, I was so impressed! He was dressed most appropriately, and shook my hand warmly. I felt as though he already knew my case quite well, so prepared was he. I had explained to Mr. Steele prior to our meeting that I am uncomfortable leaving my home or conversing for long periods of time. Mr. Steele had clearly taken my needs into consideration as everything was ready for signatures and I didn't have to stay any longer than absolutely necessary. While we talked, I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Steele's delightfully dry sense of humor; he put me right at ease. I cannot stress enough the professionalism with which Mr.Steele handled himself. Clearly he is well-versed in the law.. He worked with purpose, but I always understood, thanks to him, exactly what was going on and why. I was free to modify anything I needed. Finally, Mr. Steele has been in regular contact with me, which shows me that he is professional, dedicated to his clients, and has integrity to spare. After some horror stories I've heard, I feel confident in putting my future, and that of my children, in Mr. Steele's hands. There isn't a doubt in my mind that I come first with him, and that he will do his utmost to ensure success for us all.
