Hello, I’m Cathy Cook. I want to help you resolve your personal legal issues. I concentrate my practice in family law. Family law includes divorce, dissolution, paternity, child support, spousal support, and custody.
I began practicing law in 1982, when I served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Gilbert Bettman of the Common Pleas Court of Hamilton County. In that position, I learned first hand how the courts are run, how judges handle cases, and I worked closely with courthouse personnel. This experience helped me mesh law school training with the operation of the courts. With this background, I am able to educate and assist you in court proceedings.
Following my clerkship, I went into private practice, first with a small firm and then in my own practice. I work hard to stay abreast of the current law and policies in my practice areas and in the courts where I work. At least twice a year, I teach seminars to other attorneys on various topics in family law and criminal defense. I am also an instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, which teaches young lawyers how to try cases in court. These activities assure that I remain on the cutting edges to assist you in your case.
My work has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell. The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings assist sophisticated buyers of legal services identify, evaluate and select the most appropriate lawyer for the case. Lawyer ratings serve as an objective indicator that a lawyer has the highest ethical standards and professional ability. I am fortunate to have received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, AV®. This rating means that my peers rank me at the highest level of professional excellence. To learn more about the rating system, go to www.martindale.com.
Over the years of my practice, I have made it my mission to educate people on the law and the options available to them in my practice areas. I offer an initial telephone consultation at no charge. Please call me, so I can help you get on the right track in your case.

I sure wish I could use Cathy and Peggy for my mother-in-law's dissolution/divorce! They do not work in the county where she resides, but Peggy was unbelievably helpful even though she knew I could not use them. She helped explain the difference between a dissolution and divorce, guided me on the imp...

Cathy was a superb counsel to have. She took a case that had languished for almost 2 years in different stages of collaboration and mediation, and had the case resolved in less than half of that time. Cathy was calm, wise, funny, reassuring and confident. Cathy was able to achieve all of the big pict...

I want to personally thank you and your team for professionally representing me at the last minute of my divorce. After ten months of dealing with attorneys that were unprofessional and downright unethical, your legal team saved the day. I was amazed at your ability to quickly review my case, provi...

I found Cathy to be a consummate professional; she advocated for my best interest, while being very upfront and telling it like it is (not telling me what I necessarily wanted to hear). She and her staff responded promptly to all of my emails and phone calls, were well-prepared and efficient, and di...

Cathy and her team did a wonderful job on my dissolution. She was able to quickly and successfully finalize everything and I even received money back from my deposit. They were very good at keeping me updated and I would often receive itemized costs. I would highly recommend her.
"As a fellow lawyer in the community, I can verify Cathy's reputation as an amazing divorce attorney. She is well versed in the law and fights tirelessly for her clients. I highly recommend her."
"I enthusiastically endorse this lawyer, and always refer people to her when they need a lawyer to stand up for their interests in divorce. Cathy is polite but tough; she zealously represents her clients within the boundaries of the law. There is no bluster with Cathy, she is honest and capable, has a thorough knowledge of domestic relations law and is able to effectively communicate legal concepts to her clients and fellow attorneys."
"I endorse this lawyer. She's been wonderful to learn from at all of the CLE's at which she has spoken, that I've attended."
"I endorse this lawyer. Cathy is a very good attorney. She is very direct and does not run up fees needlessly. She is very organized and presents her evidence in an organized and persuasive fashion."
"I had the good fortune of attending a seminar at which Cathy spoke. She is obviously very knowledgeable about "Non-Traditional Family Structures and Paternity Disputes" and "Advanced Child and Spousal Support Issues.'"
