I was represented by an attorney; Tamas Tabor, from the Joslyn Law Firm. I was quite wary of the relationship between Attorneys, Prosecutors and Defense lawyers are all a part of the same community that confer, and exchange information that a client and or a judge may and or may not be privy to. I had been violently assaulted and unjustly arrested by Ohio Police and was hard pressed to find representation that would be willing to help me navigate the pitfalls of a case against Police as a Black Man. Even as Tamas was doing his best to figure out why we were being stonewalled at every turn when it came to receiving any of the public information from the arrest that was needed for us to formulate an effective argument against The State, I felt like his intentions were to keep me in the dark about my case, not realizing he was being shrouded in the same shadow as myself and any other legal venue I had attempted to consult with, about my case. After about a little over a year of me gathering information on my end to aid in my Defense, paperwork, videos, and witnesses the trial was around the corner. The Prosecution doubled up on their Stonewalling tactic by making 99.9 percent of my evidence inadmissible because I could not afford financially to fly a key witness out to Ohio from my State New York. All we were left with for Defense against 4 Columbus Police Officers was my testimony of the events of the evening in question and the Expertise of Tamas my attorney. After 3 days of testimony and an Impressive closing argument by Tamas against Two State attorneys Closing arguments, we emerged Victorious. Not Guilty on all Charges. I immediately expressed my appreciation to Tamas and apologized for my Skepticism in his willingness to Tooth & Nail it for me as his client. He went into this trial with both hands tied behind his back, and we still came out on top.

As an out of state defendant, I was very nervous about how my case would be dealt with and what options were available to me. I was very nervous about going to jail and having a felony on my record. I sought out an Attorney after having a search warrant served and all my electronic devices removed from my home. My first reaction was that my world was over once it was known to my job, friends and loved ones that I viewed Child Pornography. I was full of shame and guilt. I would eventually be charged with several felony charges for pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. Before I was officially charged 10 months later, I had searched the internet for an Attorney that had very good reviews and who had dealt with clients with the same charges as mine. I took his recommendations and dedicated myself to attending Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings and began one on one therapy with a Sex Addiction / Offender Therapist. Through this process and my journey, Brian continued to support me and encourage me to keep doing what I was doing. He kept me informed and it helped ease my mind; knowing that he was diligently working on my case. He showed genuine concern for my wellbeing. He truly wanted to see that I get and continue to receive the help I needed and that I leave the rest to him. Fast forward to today. I was officially charged with 5 felony 2s pandering sexually illicit material involving a minor. Brian was able to get that reduced to 2. His summary was detailed and educational. His courtroom presentation was staggering to watch.  He had supplied to the judge articles and research on the effects of addiction to pornography and how it can lead down a very dark road. The Judge had stated that he had “learned a lot” from Brian’s summary letter. This is a huge win because as I now know, this is a misunderstood and stigmatic problem that can stem from an addiction to mainstream pornography. The mere fact that he was able to educate a respected, intelligent Harvard Graduate Judge, speaks volumes on his part. I ended up with 3 years’ probation and sex offender registration. It was a very big win. No jail or prison time. I continue to take Brian’s suggestions and continue to work the program of Sex Addicts Anonymous in addition to working one on one with my Sex Offender Therapist. I am so thankful to Brian for his suggestions, his compassion and his understanding. His support and determination in making sure I was well holistically while defending me whole heartedly has meant so much to me. I’m proud to call Brian Joslyn my attorney and my friend.
