I was advised there was a warrant out for my arrest for a SORNA violation back in Ohio when I returned to North Carolina. I immediately looked under Best Lawyers and found Charles Ritgers' reviews quite good. Mr. Ritgers immediately advised me what was going to be involved in representing me on a c...omplex case with several extenuating circumstances. He was upfront about the costs, time and the what if's should we not reach an agreement with the prosecution. It was an extremely delicate situation requiring careful follow-through on both of our parts. Charlie brought on Mr. Nicholas Graman, a Specialist in this area of law for back up. They both did a great deal of work interviewing my PO, meeting with the DA, collecting documentation, scheduling and attending multiple court visits. Throughout the process they always advised me what they discovered and asked questions to make a successful case. After three court appearances, It appeared the DA wasn't going to offer a plea agreement and continued to bring in witnesses from the sheriff's office. Finally after both Charlie and Nick heard from those witnesses and met with the Judge and the DA and explained the circumstances behind my failure under SORNA, as well as my NC PO allowing me to illegally come to OH via travel permits, and the many other circumstances of the case, they were able to reach a fair agreement with them. I could have been in custody for 12-18 mos. with a F4 but they were able to reduce the sentence to a M1 and no probation given underlying circumstances. I was amazed how these guys came to my defense for this first time offense. I've worked with criminal defense attorneys in the past that were never as transparent and professional as Charles Ritgers and Nicholas Graman. They are the best attorneys I've ever worked with and would highly recommend them for full legal representation. They both exceeded my expectations.

Charlie answered the phone in the dead of night for my first call to get a consultation and was incredibly informative and direct and put no pressure on me in the slightest to use his services over anyone else's. When it came to discussing his rates I was surprised to find it shockingly affordable (w...ith respect to what others in the field charge), with a flat rate for the entire process that he was able to separate into a few payments to give me time to get my assets in the right places. This was my first experience with the court system and nervousness was the overwhelming emotion in my life at the time.
