Self-serving and Unprofessional

I was referred to Todd Kotler for advice about a simple filing process, for which I had a couple of questions. I intended to pay him a flat fee to review and file documents with the court that I prepared. I explained this to him prior to our meeting, he agreed to help, and asked me to email my docum...ents to him. He was late and unprepared for our meeting, without explanation or apology. He proceeded to pry into my reasons for doing what I’m doing, then had a cryptic conversation with his paralegal about billing. Then, he tried to insert himself into a different matter, being handled by a different attorney, to ultimately cash in on a lawsuit that may or may not take place. He insisted I list inaccurate information on the documents, and said he would be entitled to a percentage of any award I received from the lawsuit that may not even take place, and in which he would have no active role. Upon consulting with another attorney, who doesn’t even live in this county, I learned that my situation is common, and the courts here have provided a simple process where I can easily handle this matter without an attorney or even entering into an invasive court procedure. He was disgusted about the shady way Todd Kotler mislead me, and invited me to follow up with any questions about the process, at no charge. He said this process was only worth attorney involvement if someone was incapacitated, and people should be empowered, not exploited during times of duress and tragedy. In my option, Todd Kotler is a slimy, arrogant, little man, just out to make a buck, and not beneath taking advantage of people who are vulnerable. His positive reviews appear to be mostly colleague reciprocated reviews from his network. Get another opinion before you believe anything this man has to say. He is a horrible man who should know better, and feel ashamed of himself. I don’t think he would like it very much if someone treated his wife this way.

Thorough and knowledgeable
