John S. Marshall

I contacted John Marshall's firm for a consultation, based on the glowing online reviews. I was greatly disappointed and immediately regretful. John was extremely rude and discourteous to me as a professional, after he learned my identity. He said that he couldn't help me because I was a felon, but h...e advertises that his firm represents people that have been wrongfully convicted and maliciously prosecuted. That is why I called his firm. As a black female professional, which he knew from my case, I felt very disrespected at his reference to me. His tone was abrasive and very condescending. The way in which John Marshall dismissed and disregarded me on the phone, in the presence of others in his office, (he put me on speakerphone) was humiliating and denigrating to me as a black woman. I would not recommend his services.

Mr. Marshall represented me in a class action suit and settled out of court. Although I never met him in person, it is commendable to settle out of court in a timely manner; this credits him in two ways....he knew he represented persons who had been wronged, and he was able to distribute the settleme...nt within months instead of years. For those reasons I gave him a five star rating.

John Marshall came very highly recommended to me when I needed the services of an employment lawyer. I had already known of his stellar reputation in this field. I can attest to the fact he totally lives up to this reputation. He surpassed all of my expectations. Drawing on his many years of legal ex...perience, he provided sound, practical advice, and helped me navigate the process in a professional, thoughtful, and compassionate way. I felt so fortunate to have John as my advocate. He was always very approachable and tremendously responsive to my questions. He moved the process along in an extremely timely fashion, and the matter was successfully resolved. I am immeasurably grateful for the guidance John provided throughout the process. I would very highly recommend John to anyone.

This lawyer was referred to me with reviews such as those on this site but the experience that I had being a client of Mr. Marshall was very, very different. He was very disorganized and consistently late with communications, for example, not sending me a bill for months and then demanding that I pa...y the very large amount immediately. But much worse in my experience was his patronizing, dismissive attitude toward any questions that I asked, including a communication from him where he said that he didn't want me asking him questions! He also did not copy me on his communications to the opposing counsel (hence my questions), which other lawyers had always done and was generally very slow to keep me informed. I lost all confidence in him when he gave me advice on another related matter which seemed so questionable that I sought out a legal opinion from two other attorneys, both of which strongly recommending against Mr. Marshall's advice. At that point, I withdrew as a client of Mr. Marshall and got new counsel who were very different from Mr. Marshall in their presentation of my case, their responsiveness, and their partnership with me in the case. Having experienced these two very different lawyers for my case, I absolutely would not recommend Mr. Marshall.
