John S. Marshall

John Marshall came very highly recommended to me when I needed the services of an employment lawyer. I had already known of his stellar reputation in this field. I can attest to the fact he totally lives up to this reputation. He surpassed all of my expectations. Drawing on his many years of legal ex...perience, he provided sound, practical advice, and helped me navigate the process in a professional, thoughtful, and compassionate way. I felt so fortunate to have John as my advocate. He was always very approachable and tremendously responsive to my questions. He moved the process along in an extremely timely fashion, and the matter was successfully resolved. I am immeasurably grateful for the guidance John provided throughout the process. I would very highly recommend John to anyone.

John Marshall held my hand and guided me through one of the most difficult professional (and personal) experiences of my life. Not only was he patient with all of my many questions but he gave me individualized answers that made sense for my unique situation. I never felt like I was "just another cli...ent" or that he was leading me in a direction that was more beneficial to his agenda and timeline than to mine. He was honest and direct but in a kind and empathetic way that never made me feel "small". Because gender discrimination and retaliation were my issues, I believed a female attorney would be my best choice for an advocate. However, when I asked for recommendations from my attorney friends (many of whom are women) John was recommended more than any other. They informed me that if they were in a similar situation, John would be their first choice for representation. I took their advice and I'm glad I did... My situation was resolved in a very timely manner to the "mutual satisfaction" of all involved. When this all started, I never thought I would be able to say that. I figured I would be dealing with this for years. But with John's knowledge of the law and understanding of our State and Federal systems, I was given 2 years of my life back along with closure. Finally, my personal situation called for some additional "after the paperwork was signed" legal help. John and his team offered to assist and have been there to guide me through these "extra" steps. While this is above and beyond what was initially agreed to, John is committed to assuring all loose ends are tied up and that I am satisfied, not just with the initial results, but with the entire experience. Speaking from personal experience, as I've been in the client service industry my entire career, finding a service professional who voluntarily continues to work after their fee has been collected, is like finding a diamond in the rough. John is a gem, indeed.

This lawyer was referred to me with reviews such as those on this site but the experience that I had being a client of Mr. Marshall was very, very different. He was very disorganized and consistently late with communications, for example, not sending me a bill for months and then demanding that I pa...y the very large amount immediately. But much worse in my experience was his patronizing, dismissive attitude toward any questions that I asked, including a communication from him where he said that he didn't want me asking him questions! He also did not copy me on his communications to the opposing counsel (hence my questions), which other lawyers had always done and was generally very slow to keep me informed. I lost all confidence in him when he gave me advice on another related matter which seemed so questionable that I sought out a legal opinion from two other attorneys, both of which strongly recommending against Mr. Marshall's advice. At that point, I withdrew as a client of Mr. Marshall and got new counsel who were very different from Mr. Marshall in their presentation of my case, their responsiveness, and their partnership with me in the case. Having experienced these two very different lawyers for my case, I absolutely would not recommend Mr. Marshall.
