I hired Slaughter in 2018, going through a terrible case with DCS. Below is one of the horrible emails, he sent me as a response to a tearful question (names redacted). You can assess whether you would want someone who speaks to clients like this, as your attorney. Money aside, his attitude and tone ...crushes people going through a difficult time. My expectations were standard, to feel like someone was in my corner. He was not. Ms._____, You are approaching the threshold of making it unreasonably difficult to represent you in this case and I am considering filing a motion to withdraw. I do not believe that I am going to be able to meet your expectations. You sent me an email on last Thursday. Apparently, you expected a reply no later than the following Friday based on the email that I received yesterday from you. You apparently insist that either I or my staff respond to every email or phone call from you in one business day or less. Unfortunately, we will not be able to do so. Part of the reason we will not be meeting that expectation is because we simply cannot respond to every email or phone call that quickly. A bigger reason for why we cannot respond that quickly is because you really don’t want us too. Simply put, you cannot afford it. I told you in the beginning, and I thought you agreed, that the primary purpose as I understood it for your case was to defeat the DCS case against you. That means I need to be preparing for a trial. It does not mean taking up every gripe and dissatisfaction you have against DCS, or both fathers of your children. I did not know, understand, or agree to take up any other case than what I described above. I did not agree to take up a custody case with either of your children’s fathers during the pending case. I have tried to make sure that you understand the economic realities of your case. Apparently, I have not done a good job. So let me try to explain this to you again in greater detail. We need to subpoena your daughter’s medical records, even if it takes 5 minutes or less to prepare those subpoenas it will cost almost $135 to have my paralegal draft and issue those subpoenas. (It will take more time than that, but I am trying to be conservative for your benefit.) Then when we receive those medical records, you are going to have to pay the medical providers for the cost of those records. I don’t know how much those costs will be, but I expect it will be at least $200, maybe more. Then I will need to review those records. It will take me at least 30 minutes to review each of the records, probably more. That will equal 4.5 hours or $1575.00. Once I review the records and provide them with our physicians, I will have to speak with them about their conclusions. That will be at least 30 minutes each or another hour which equals $350.00. Then I will need to participate in at least three medical depositions. Even though those doctors have agreed to do this for you at no cost as a favor to me, I will still charge you for my time. It will take at least 2 hours for each deposition. Actually, it will likely take longer. So, you are looking at at least 6 hours for depositions at a cost of $2100.00. Then I will need to prepare for your actual trial, so you are looking at a minimum of 12 hours of preparation time or another $4200.00. Then of course there is the trial which we have already assumed would be at least 6 hours or $2100. So, if you add all of the above together you are looking at paying at least $10,660.00. Again, I expect the actual cost will be significantly higher than that. Now add on to this that you also want me to respond to every email and phone call. Obviously to do this takes a great deal of time. This extra time also costs a great deal of money. Money that you apparently cannot afford. Spent 15,200 just trying to get my child support lowered . I stayed with the for 1 year before I left they accomplished nothing. They served my ex wife’s 60 year old mom instead of her. They also charged me to get all the info about my case which was fine till the attorney quit. And a new one was ass...igned to me and they need all the info I had already provided and charged me again very unprofessional would steer clear. Me slaughter seems like an alright guy he never really worked on my case it’s the others in the office that I dealt with but all of them make up the team and it basically cost me all the money I had saved up to be able to fight it so I could be home with my kids. I bring home 3,000 a month as a local welder my child support is set at 2408 a month I can’t live . Figured they would help me so I could be with my girls but they didn’t. It’s practices like this that give lawyers a bad name .

As someone who prides myself in being very knowledgable in law as a former law student. After 2 self represented hearings on a domestic case in which, While 100% innocent, I was getting the runaround in the court system (Resetting dates for further reviews and waiting for unfounded discoveries.) I w...as at wits end and I gave mr. slaughter a call. Upon our initial discussion, I felt very comfortable not only with his knowledge of the pertaining laws but his profound interest in my personal security. He was also very attentive and his professional demeanor towards my particular case really showed. Bottom line is if I ever find myself in need of legal counsel, I would not hesitate for one second to call on him again as I feel that he truly holds my best interest to heart and I can assure you he would do the same for you whatever situation you may find yourself in. He truly is an unprofound value in the world of legal counsel for the services you get in return.
