Honestly this is the hardest thing to write on this entire profile I hate to “toot my own horn” because, to me, it can come across as sounding like I’m full of myself. I can assure you that isn’t the case. Still you need to know a little bit about me and my background to be able to determine if I’m a good fit for you.
AcademicsWell for starters out of the 88 people who graduated in my law school class, I was ranked number 2. I also graduate summa cum laude (the highest honors your can earn). I’m also a published author. My article, A Guide for Tennessee Criminal Defense Attorneys in Capital Sentencing Hearings: Representing Clients who were Acutely Intoxicated During the Alleged Crime and Clients with a History of Addiction, was chosen to be included in the book Perspectives on Capital Punishment in America which was edited by Charles MacLean.
I guess that means I’m suppose to be pretty smart. More importantly I think it reflects that I’m not afraid to work really hard to accomplish my goals. If you hire me to represent you, I’ll work with the exact same determination to assist you that elevated me to the very top of my law school class.
Life ExperienceSome things in life you can only learn from experience regardless of your educational background. Sometime wisdom only comes with age. I’ve been around the block a few times and I have the grey hairs to prove it! I’d like to think that my maturity gives me a unique perspective that can assist my clients in finding a more positive outcome for their situation.
Prior to entering the legal profession I have had a very unique job history. For almost 20 I was a professional magician. Yes, you read that right. I have literally performed thousands of magic shows for resorts, amusement parks, and corporations around the globe. I think it goes without saying that I am very comfortable speaking in front of people.
So why is that important for you?
Well, being able to stand up in front of judges and juries and argue for your client is a big part of what lawyers do. I believe that my ability to be comfortable “standing and delivering” in front of judges went a long way towards my partner and I advancing to the quarter finals of the Charleston School of Law’s National Moot Court Competition. Don’t you want a lawyer that is comfortable arguing your case, and isn’t afraid to speak in front of a judge or jury? I believe my prior experience in the entertainment business is a very powerful asset that I’d like to put to work for you.
I can prove that I’m not afraid of a fightI also have a fourth degree black belt in American Karate and a second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate-Do. In 1993 I was ranked among the top 20 light weight black belt fighters in the nation by the North American Sport Karate Association. I think this demonstrates that 1) I’m not afraid of a fight, and 2) I’m not easily intimidated. If you hire me to represent you, I promise that I will fight just as hard for you. I won’t be intimidated by the prosecution. I won’t be afraid to fight for every legal benefit to which you are entitled. I won’t be afraid to go to trial.

Condescending and Lack of Compassion
I hired Slaughter in 2018, going through a terrible case with DCS. Below is one of the horrible emails, he sent me as a response to a tearful question (names redacted). You can assess whether you would want someone who speaks to clients like this, as your attorney. Money aside, his attitude and tone ...

Terrible experience
Spent 15,200 just trying to get my child support lowered . I stayed with the for 1 year before I left they accomplished nothing. They served my ex wife’s 60 year old mom instead of her. They also charged me to get all the info about my case which was fine till the attorney quit. And a new one was ass...

An attorney that truly cares!
As someone who prides myself in being very knowledgable in law as a former law student. After 2 self represented hearings on a domestic case in which, While 100% innocent, I was getting the runaround in the court system (Resetting dates for further reviews and waiting for unfounded discoveries.) I w...
"Patrick is a thorough, knowledgable, and competent lawyer. Having known him for eight years now, I can say with absolute confidence that he is an excellent choice for your representation, and he unequivocally has my endorsement."
"I don't think I've ever met an attorney with the same combination of knowledge, confidence, work ethic, and wit as Patrick. He cares about his clients, he knows the law, he works like a fiend, and puts on an impressive show in court. I hope I never need to have a divorce lawyer, but if I do I call dibs on him."
"I endorse Mr. Slaughter without hesitation. He is unwavering in his pursuit of his client's interests. You will be making a solid decision by retaining his services."
"I first met Mr. Slaughter when he was in law school. He so impressed me that I hired him. He is very a very dedicated legal professional. I endorse this lawyer."
"I have worked both with and against Patrick Slaughter and I happily endorse his work ethic, honesty, and advocacy for his clients. I have endorsed him for immigration, but he works equally hard in all his practice areas."
"Slaughter is a personable attorney who will get the job done! Look no further, this attorney is knowledgeable, creative, and driven. He embodies exactly what every client needs. Slaughter is a pleasure to collaborate with and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a family attorney."
"Patrick Slaughter is a truly exceptional attorney. He zealously advocates for his clients in an aggressive yet professional manner. He is personable and easy to work with. If a family member or close friend had a family law matter, I would not hesitate to refer them to Patrick."
"I have seen Patrick go out of his way to make sure an adoption gets completed. He's gone to a jail to meet the birth mother so that she could sign surrender paperwork and he's even convinced a JUDGE to go with him to the jailhouse to conduct the surrender hearing. All of this helped Patrick's clients get their adoption completed quickly and easily. His efforts helped a young child's stability and allowed the family to come together without a long, drawn-out court process."
"Mr. Slaughter is well-known and respected as a talented lawyer. He truly cares about his clients. I recommend him without hesitation."
"Patrick is a competent and well respected lawyer in the community. I endorse and recommend this lawyer."
"I endorse Mr. Slaughter without hesitation. He is a tough litigator and fights tirelessly for his clients. Mr. Slaughter is very knowledgeable in the practice of law and will not stop until the needs of his clients are met."
"I have very high regard for Mr. Slaughter and his skills. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my closest friend."
"Incredibly quick thinking and always two or three steps ahead of the others, Patrick would be a formidable opponent for anyone. I would hire him to go to court for me and I have been in practice for almost 30 years. He's new, but he comes across as though he is a seasoned veteran. A good hire if you need a litigator in one of Patrick's practice areas."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Slaughter is extremely precise and conscientious in his work for his clients. Mr. Slaughter possesses an acute eye for detail and will leave no stone unturned in the zealous representation of his clients. I would further recommend and endorse Mr. Slaughter in the areas of Family Law and Personal Injury Law as well."
"Patrick and I attended the same law school and I know him personally to be a wonderful person. I am confident in his skill as an attorney and would recommend him to anyone needing legal services. Robin"
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Slaughter is an absolute pleasure to work with, all while he zealously advocates on his client's behalf. He is diligent, professional, and above all exceptionally knowledgeable of the law. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr. Slaughter to anyone in our community."
"I endorse this lawyer. Patrick works hard for his clients and is a diligent and competent attorney. I am glad to be a friend and fellow attorney with this caliber of attorney! Patrick is one of the most hardworking and intelligent lawyers I have ever met. He will go above and beyond the call of duty to do the best for his client."
"For the entire time that Patrick and I have been colleagues, I have known him to be a competent, personable, and ethical attorney. Often the only person in the courtroom speaking up for his clients' rights, he will adamantly advocate your case."
