A Word About My Legal Philosophy

Since I opened my practice in 1997, I have been fortunate to represent and counsel hundreds of clients in the areas of Divorce and child custody, spousal and child support, Business matters and litigation, Contracts, Family Law litigation and negotiation, and Estate Planning methods and documents to protect my clients' assets and income through the use of Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, advance Medicaid/Nursing Home Planning, and more.

When working with my clients to resolve legal matters and situations, I am cognizant that I serve in several roles, and I provide dynamic, well-thought-out and prepared representation and counsel.  My goal is to be bold, to advise and assist my clients in crafting reasonable goals, and in setting out the framework to obtain the best results possible for my clients, for their families, businesses, and future.  I look forward to helping you.

When selecting an attorney, you should feel confident in that professional before you hire her.  At your Consultation appointment, ask the qustions that are on your mind, including those that scare you.  You are there to learn how this person can represent and advise you, and Knowledge is Power.  If you have answers, you can make better decisions.  It is part of my job to help my clients learn what their legal options are, and what they can do to help me put their best foot forward in their legal matters.

FAMILY LAW MATTERS:  I understand that when you are going through a divorce, a child custody or support fight, or any other Family legal matter, it is one of the most stressful times of your life.  It is important to me that my clients understand their legal options, have their questions answered and rights protected, and be well-represented by a knowledgeable and prepared attorney.  I am always pleased to help a client negotiate a reasonable settlement to resolve their family or other legal disputes, and settlement is often possiblie when both sides are reasonable.  However, when that opportunity is not present, I am ready to take your matter to trial.

BUSINESS LAW AND CONTRACTS:  Contracts are the basis for all business, and are often the most important - and overlooked - documents that can make or break a client's position. Surprisingly, family law matters and forward-thinking estate planning issues are often goverened by contracts as well.  My advanced degrees, education, and experience are in Law as well as Business: I earned my Masters of Business Administration at the same time as my Law Degree, in 1997.  I have advised and represented clients since 1997 in the law of Business, Contracts, Entity Formation and operations, Litigation, and winding up of business affairs.  I look forward to working with you.

WILLS, TRUSTS, AND POWERS OF ATTORNEY:  For some clients, a Will is the best option, but for others, a Trust will better meet their needs and goals for controlling and maintaining their home and assets during their lifetimes, and passing it to their loved ones for the future.  A consultation with a knowledgeable attorney can help you understand the differences in how these documents work, and can help you determine  which better fits with your goals.  Powers of Attorney for finances, healthcare decisions, and the care that will determine your very life, are vital, and sometimes are of more use to Clients than even a Will.  These documents are not only for  you: your family needs for you to have them.  Call us at 865-675-9125 today for a consultation.

A WORD ABOUT FEES AND LEGAL CONSULTATIONS:

Often, one of the most valuable service we offer is the initial consultation.  I charge a flat fee of $ 300.00 for the initial, one-hour consultation.

If our consultation lasts significantly longer than one hour, the additional time will be charged at $ 350.00 per hour.  During the iniital consultation, I will not only answer your questions, but also give you information about the legal process, your options, and what to expect emotionally, financially, and legally, throughout your legal proceedings.  I will also try and help you determine whether your problem can be solved outside of court.  It is also a time for you to meet my staff who will work with me to assist you throughout your situation.

I look forward to working with you to help you resolve your legal situation.  Call (865) 675-9125 to schedule a legal consultation today.

EXCELLENT ATTORNEY
My husband and I were referred to Ms. Holland by our financial planner. We needed to have an estate plan done. Ms. Holland sat down with us and went over everything and offered several suggestions we had not even considered. She made a tasking process seem effortless. Her and her assistant Keith went above and beyond to make sure our needs and wishes were met. We would highly recommend her for any estate planning anyone needed.

Amazing Attorney!
Shannon is an amazing attorney that really cares about what our needs and goals were. We went through 4 years trying to adopt my step-son and Shannon helped make that possible! I am forever grateful for Shannon and her knowledge of the courts.

Thank you for your kind review of my representation of you and your family, Robin. I was pleased to represent you, and hope that you know you and your friends and family may call upon me when I may be of assistance to any of you. I, too, was pleased that the outcome was so favorable, as I believe it made a real difference in the life of your step-son to be raised by loving, caring, intelligent parents, all found in your home. A wonderful Success! Thank you again.

PROFESSIONAL AND TRUSTWORTHY
Shannon Holland epitomized the professionalism and authority that was everything I had hoped for and expected from an attorney. From the moment I sat down in her office she began putting my mind at rest by her willingness to explain the extensive process and respond to my exhaustive questions while outlining how she would handle all aspects of my divorce. Throughout my divorce I was continually kept informed of our progress and always had my questions answered in a timely manner. Even though there were times when I became anxious about the divorce process, Ms. Holland never dismissed my concerns. I always felt she was on my side and working hard for me. During depositions and in courtroom Ms. Holland had a commanding presence that often put her in the position of spokesperson for both parties. Even after the finalization of my divorce Ms. Holland continued to handle any and all issues as well as paperwork that needed to be filed. My expectations were exceeded and I am grateful that I had such an exceptional attorney. I would recommend Shannon Holland without reservation.

Professional, Dedicated, and Highly Recommended
After spending years trying, unsuccessfully, to get my state to enforce a child support obligation, I hired Shannon to represent me. As a young mother, I was very intimidated by the legal system and not sure of what could be done to improve the situation. Shannon's knowledge and expertise assured me that there was hope. She went above and beyond and advocated for what was in the best interest of my child and myself. Not only did she secure child support payments, she made sure that back child support was included, health insurance coverage was added, along with other things I had not even thought of. Throughout the entire process, Shannon was professional and kept me informed. She was always willing to answer any questions I had and the personal attention that she devoted to my case made it hard to believe that she had other clients. Her commitment to her profession and clients is unmatched. I have recommended her to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Exceptional Attorney!!!
Shannon is an exceptional advocate and attorney. She is intelligent, poised, and highly respected in the Knoxville legal community by judges and attorneys alike. Shannon represented me on a speeding violation in April 2014, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. Shannon was highly knowledgeable regarding the law and made sure that I understood the court process as well as my case disposition. If my family or friends ever need an attorney, Shannon is the first person I would refer them to. I trust her completely and have the utmost respect for her.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of your experience. Traffic citations are the number one way in which most people come into contact with the courts, and it can be a stressful situation to resolve on your own! I am pleased you called me for help, and I am very glad I could resolve your case effectively and quickly, to your satisfaction. Please call me anytime.

Shannon M. Holland: Representation at its Finest
My divorce was the most emotionally taxing event of my entire life. Luckily, it didn't have to be mentally taxing too because I hired Shannon Holland to take care of it for me. All I had to do was promptly provide her with the information she needed, and Ms. Holland did all of the work. In our meetings, she helped me to calm down and focus on the issues so I wouldn't make any decisions I might regret later. She was right there working for me every step of the way. If you want the very best, call Shannon Holland!

5 Star lawyer across the board.
Going through a divorce and custody battle is something that can change your life forever. Going through such an ordeal was very confusing and painful, not to mention a td bit on the nervous side. When I retained Shannon, I had no idea what to expect. You tend to see lawyers as heartless, know it all's, out for your money and to boost their name in society. That was not the case with Shannon. Since day one, Shannon made the atmosphere in her office very comfortable and relaxed. Two of the things I needed most at that time. Shannon explained to me in detail, what I was going through, what to expect, and what possible outcomes could arise. Shannon is an excellent speaker, without all that mumbo jumbo lawyer talk. She spoke on MY level, and was very easy to understand. She let me talk, and didn't act like she knew it all, and that made me feel appreciated and better about my situation. In the end, Shannon got me what I wanted, which was joint custody of my daughter. I would, and have, recommended Shannon to numerous friends and family. If I ever needed another attorney, I would not hesitate to call Shannon for her services. Well knowledge, extremely professional, and she gets results.

Empty Promises with Large Legal Bills
Shannon likes to talk a good game until she gets your money. If your looking for a lawyer that can write good letters, then she's your girl. My case was a divorce matter. She was totally afraid of Court and the other attorney. She promised to be agressive and called me a whiner when I brought up her past promises. Also, she left mediation early to go on a date. She also failed to draw up documents in a timely matter. Horrible experience!!! Dont hire unless you like to give money away.

Thank you for your review. I strive to provide thorough, well-prepared, and aggressive representation for every client. Over the last 17+ years, I have fought for clients thousands of times in court, in hearings, trials, formal conferences, appeals, and legally-required mediation, and have never had this type of complaint. I enjoy court, but I find that most clients do not. I present clients with viable options to resolve their legal matters in the way that best suits their desired outcome, and I work for the best interests of the client. Because I understand the importance of my clients’ investment in professional fees, I provide detailed billing statements, and invite my clients to contact me with questions. Some cases are protracted and complex, and others do not require as much time. Fees are in relation to the time it takes to resolve each client’s particular legal issues. I hope that you will contact me to talk about any other suggestions you may have. You have not provided your name, and I cannot think of any client or case that fits this scenario, but I am sorry you were not pleased. Professional rules prevent me from discussing your case in this forum, so please call me at 865-675-9125, and I will be happy to review your situation and talk with you to make it right.

"Few are as revered among the legal community as much as Shannon Holland. Among the best in her field, zealous advocate for her clients, an example of who a lawyer should be - these are just a few of the ways I have heard Ms. Holland described. Yet, pulling from my own interactions with her, she is so much more. True, Ms. Holland is an attorney of the very top caliber, but she also takes the time to give back to the community and to mentor so many younger attorneys. If you have Ms. Holland as your attorney, you can consider yourself fortunate and able to rest easier at nights knowing you are in such capable hands."
