Abysmal Experience

I won't hire Seven Culbreath again. I think client experience has two parts: 1. legal knowledge. Steven was solid here. 2. client care, such as replying in a timely fashion. Steve was truly abysmal here. I had to babysit him every step along the way. Over and over again he'd go 7+... days without replying to my requests for updates, sometimes failing to reply altogether. I tried being friendly, lighthearted, compassionate. Absolutely nothing made this man work any more quickly or responsively until I threatened to report him to the Florida Bar and the BBB. His book on Amazon is an amazing first-stop for anyone keen to understand the visa-application process. Go and read his book there, but do not hire him unless you want an exhausting, frustrating, barely-productive experience. Normally I wouldn't leave reviews like this. He explicitly quotes this lawyer-review site all over his own website, though, and cites all the amazing 5-star reviews he's gotten on here, so I thought it was only fair that my experience be included for anyone else considering his services. Along the way, I had one live phone call with Steven, and he was incredibly kind and inspiring to speak with. I sincerely hope he cleans up his act on client-care. He could have a great business here.

Hi Tim, thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry you feel you didn't have an optimal experience. I will consider your comments and look for possible improvements in the process, for the benefit of other clients. Ultimately, you got the Visa renewal you hired me to handle for you. So although the road there was bumpy, we got this one approved and in the "win" column.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY MY HONEST REVIEW !!

This is a list of the events that happen working with Mr. Steven I'm a software engineer with a IT company in Dominican Republic for 18 years now. 1) Date : June 2016 (First Contact) I contacted Mr. Steven through his website in 2015 explaining him that i'm interested in opening a subsidiar...y of my company in the USA trying to expand my software business. Software developed by my company (Accounting, Point of sale, payroll, etc) We talked about L1 Visa for me and L2 for my family. He answer this email right away (same day) 2) Date : January 2017 (Meeting) I emailed Mr. Steven for a personal meeting, knowing that YOU need to know your lawyer and have a first impression with him. He Set the meeting in a Coffee Shop ( and charge a consultation fee of $150 Cash (No receipt). In here i started to doubt and ask him : "where is your Office ?", he hesitate reasoning... is around the conner. In here is said a lot of clever things and one of them was : "I'm going to create a CASE FILE sooo BIG that the people at USCIS won't have time to check it all of this in 2 weeks. 3) Date : June 2017 (Papers) The result of that BIG Case File : 7 (SEVEN) pages. The worst of everything it was a COPY-PASTE with another COMPANY NAME everywhere in the DOCUMENT. That's an INSULT for a "PROFESSIONAL LAWYER", not to stop for even check all of that. i Have a copy of this document as well. All of this after almost 3 month after i PAID IN FULL the honoraries fot the CASE. In this 3 month i asked Mr Steven for all the appropiate documents and moves in order to get the case Aproveed. I ask how much do i need in the bacnk account ?, Office Rent?, Do i need to hire the employees alredy ?... EVERYTHING !. Remember i run a company with 10+ employees for 18 years. 4) JULY 2017 USCIS as for more information and acclarations. Mr. Steven seens here like he knows this will happens, but i doesn't have the abbility of what to do next. I said to Mr. Steven to ask me for everything he think i need because i want this to get approved. 5) AUG 2017 (Letter from USCIS, CASE DENIED) In here i asked Mr. Steven for a meeting and he set the meeting in his office at 3:00pm i Went to the office ON TIME and i asked for MR. Steven with the secretary. Her response : "ohh he does not have an office here, he is a VIRTUAL !". Imagine in this moment how i felt. i called Mr. Steven to his cel phone the one that the secretary gave me, and as always he did not picked it up. i left a message and after 15 minutes he called me back. he said he was sorry that he was there... bla bla bla. i went to the office AGAIN and in this meeting he said to me he will apply for another case with NO LEGAL FEES, but i just need to pay for the TAX for the USCIS 6) MAY 2018 i have emailed, called, let messages in the voice inbox, and mr. steven decided by himself to finish the case with no answer, replies OR explanation at all. MAYBE HE WILL HAVE A RESPONSE TO THIS ONE i made this the short version. I Have a copy of EVERYTHING IN THIS REVIEW.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
