Worst Attorney Ever

Steven made me look like a complete joke. I lost my case. He didn't do anything I asked him to do. He didn't file anything I asked him to file on. I gave him all the evidence he needed to win the case and he didn't use it causing me to lose due to lack of evidence. My Ex lives out of state and he fo...ught for him to show up in person then Steven himself appeared by zoom again causing me to look like a joke. He didnt fight for me my daughter or my rights and completely let my daughters father walk away with everything he wanted. Then when I asked for half my money back for lack of representation he has ignored me and not returned any calls. He robbed me and did NOTHING took advantage of a struggling single mother with the plan to help the Father for free.

Just don’t do it!

Total waste of time and money. Paid him upfront and that’s where things ended. Didn’t listen, never responds to emails and doesn’t care to do his job. Fought for nothing in court and ran out after it was over as if he had better places to be. I can’t say it enough but just find someone else. Spend th...e money on Someone who likes their job and actually wants to help you. Cheap is great but not in a divorce situation. Just don’t do it!!!!

Worst Experience during the worst time of my life

I hired Mr. Cripps because the stress and anxiety from my divorce had taken a toll on me when suddenly my ex just stopped paying all support ordered to care for our children. I needed someone to take over and fight for me, not against me. Unfortunately in dealing with him, I didn't get what I needed.... Instead, I felt that being a divorce lawyer made him dislike women, or if not women, it made him bitter in general. Mr. Cripps would just talk over me, cut me off, wouldn't listen and just constantly interrupted me. I found this so frustrating, and increasingly infuriating as time went on dealing with him, but I had given him the agreed upon fee, which was a lesser amount than most lawyers were requesting. He made a horrible situation worse. He dropped the ball a few times, for example he was filling out papers in the court room that should have already been filled out before. I finally told him off, not once, but twice for constantly talking over me and being so condescending, but also for an insensitive, rude and incorrect summation of the relationship I was in at the time. As if he was privy to the subject, nor was it any of his business. Very insensitive and inappropriate. Again, my need for an attorney was due to my ex refusing to pay his court ordered child support and alimony while I was trying to rebuild my life and career. Such a stressful time and he added to the stress. He showed no empathy. In addition, I lost. My support went way down. I was now in major cc debt because that's all I had to pay for food, mortgage, car, and all other living expenses, with no relief coming now to cover the cc debt I had accrued over the almost 2 years my ex didn't pay, and Mr. Cripps disappeared. Never to be heard from again after leaving a voicemail telling me we'd go after other savings that was hidden away somewhere. Someone else wrote it well above, he gave me a cut rate, so I got cut rate service.

Cut rate equals cut service

Mr Cripps is a nice man and I really wanted to like him. I gave him several opportunities to assist me. A mistake in retrospect. (I never even met him in person during the several months he represented me.) Because once I finally did decide to consult another attorney. She informed me that there were... several responses to motions that NEEDED to be made within days. I found Mr Cripps communication to be extremely frustrating. He doesn't respond to emails until days later. (Apparently his staff prints them out....) Getting him on the phone is equally difficult. If you do manage to get him, he's very abrupt and defensive. I thought his experience would be an asset but he's a dinosaur, running a divorce mill. Spend the money upfront and hire a real attorney who'll give you the attention you deserve. Otherwise you'll be paying down the line anyway. (Or paying twice like I did. He never responded to my requests for a partial refund either....)

Trust Mr. Cripps to the job done!

I think I speak for the majority of us when I say that divorce is a tumultuous, extremely emotional and painful process! Especially if there are children and assets involved. You’re heartbroken and angry...so during this process, its hard to trust anyone and it can be easy to redirect your anger an...d impatience on the wrong person or event. Which I believe may explain most of the negative comments on here directed at Mr. Cripps. Does he sometimes take a day to return your call? Yes. Is he a man of few words? Yes. Can that be frustrating? Of course. But does he get the job done? You can bet your hard earned money on it! My husband left me on Valentines day, on Valentines Day!! I was an emotional mess, left with the mortgage and a slew of bills to pay. Not only did Mr. Cripps offer a flat rate fee but also an affordable payment plan. I retained Mr. Cripps towards the end of March and was divorced the 1st week of June! The day of my hearing I was nervous and concerned because he was running late (he was in another court room). The judge asked me who was my attorney and I tell her, she responds: “oh don't worry, I know he's around here somewhere, he'll be here”. He has such an awesome rapport with the judges that they don't even mind waiting for him! Mr. Cripps possesses almost 40 years of experience. He knows what he's doing and does it at a reasonable price. If you want a young lawyer that's going to kiss your butt and charge you twice as much, then go for it. But if you want a guy with an established good rapport and who will get the job done, then trust Mr. Cripps is that attorney. Good luck and all the best!! P.S. Shout out to his secretary, who was always very friendly when I called his office!
