She has also practiced in the juvenile division, where she developed a deep understanding of the practice of juvenile law.
During law school, Kaysia clerked for the Honorable Judge Andrew Siegel, of the 17th Judicial Circuit. Prior to attending law school, Kaysia gained extensive experience working as a paralegal specialist with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and various practice areas including, Intellectual Property, White Collar, Tax, Securities, and Patent Prosecution. Additionally, her experience as a congressional intern on Capitol Hill provided valuable insight in Politics and Law & Public Policy.
Kaysia was born in Bronx, New York and raised in Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Howard University, Washington, DC, and Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami, FL. She is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is also an active lecturer at her church, local homeless shelters, detention centers, and universities, on topics relating to criminal law, trial practice, and oral presentation skills. She is a loving wife to her husband of 14 years, and the proud mother of four beautiful children.
