Biography
Fort Lauderdale personal injury lawyer Kenneth LaVan has been an advocate for the rights of the disabled for many years. Mr. LaVan’s law firm, LaVan & Neidenberg, represents thousands of disability clients each year. Since 1998, his companies have provided more than 3,000 hours of community service to inner-city students, he has been featured on CNNfn, written about in Entrepreneur Magazine Business Start Ups (twice), and was Keynote Presenter at Chicago Mayor Daley’s Educational Summit. In 2008, Mr. LaVan presented at the National Organization for Veterans Advocates conference in Washington, DC. Most recently, Mr. LaVan has presented at Great Legal Marketing events where he shared insights into his success as both an attorney and a marketer. In 2010, Mr. LaVan was pleased to see the successful launch of EZ Claim, a fully-integrated claims management system using IBM social software and analytics.
In October 2010, Mr. LaVan joined a panel discussion at the IBM Midmarket Influencer Forum to discuss his collaborative role in the development of EZ Claim. In January 2012, he was a featured speaker on a panel discussion and press briefing at Lotusphere 2012 about the role of social business in small business.
Mr. LaVan has a desire to help people who are experiencing difficult times or find themselves in a challenging situation, which is why he also serves as a Fort Lauderdale disability lawyer.
In 1991, Mr. LaVan graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelors of Accountancy and received several honors during undergraduate. In 1996, he went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University and was Law Review.
Currently, he is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, Department of Veterans Affairs Accredited Attorney, National Organization for Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA), and National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).

DO NOT HONOR APPOINTMENTS
Good Afternoon, Your representative called and made an appointment to see me last thursday 2/17/11 at 11 am. Would not reccomend
It has now been two years. I was aware disability would be a lengthy process. due to another hearing in another county for an unrelated case, I was not able to attend my hearing for disability. Replied last April 24, 2015We appreciate your comments. We encourage you to contact the law firm so that we may discuss the details regarding this case. Since we do not have the specifics, I can only respond generally to your comments. In most instances, Administrative Law Judges (ALJ) will schedule hearings months in advance of hearing. Since the hearing is scheduled with advance notice, if a client fails to appear, the ALJ may dismiss your claim. Every ALJ applies this standard differently. Some ALJ's will automatically dismiss a case for failing to appear, other ALJ's will provide an opportunity to provide good cause for failing to appear. We inform ALL our clients of these very real legal possibilities. We routinely file requests for continuance if our clients cannot attend the hearing. It sounds like from your feedback that we did file a request for continuance which was denied by the judge. Notwithstanding the denial by the judge, your feedback indicates you still chose not to appear at your hearing. There still may be appellate remedies available. Again, we encourage you to contact the law firm because even though you failed to appear at your schedule hearing, we may be able to fight to keep your claim alive.
