Paul Miles Cowan

Working with Paul Cowan and his team was the worst experience ever. I hired him for my father's probate case and took 3 years and a half until he decided to close the case. He charged me for things he didn't do, he charged me for things twice, and never returned phone calls or emails. He has no manne...rs, and disrespectful. He didn't do the paperwork on time as my homestead which resulted in an increase in my mortgage. We also had paperwork done that took almost two years to deliver. Him and his team are completely out of ethic. I would never recommend him for any matter.

Mr. Cowan is working on an Estate in my family is involved. I can only rate him on his lack of responsiveness and information. I would need some of that to have an idea if he has any knowledge of his subject or if he is personally trustworthy. What I can say is that he has no interest in listening to... the facts. His lack of action will force us into a lawsuit and allow him to collect fees on an Estate that otherwise was nearly complete.

Paul M. Cowan was originally contacted by my father to handle his Trust after the passing of my mother. After meeting with Mr. Cowan, my father directed me, as Co-Trustee, to engage Mr. Cowan upon my father's passing, because he knew my sisters would contest the Living Trust, created in 2005 by my ...parents and distributed to my sisters at that time. Not only did Mr. Cowan and his staff handle this Trust matter professionally and appropriately, he/his staff came to realize that my sister's concerns were more personal than Trust related, and still handled the Trust matter professionally with an attorney (representing my sisters and their children) who, in my opinion, was quite inexperienced in this area of law, became too personally involved, and bit off more than he could chew. I would HIGHLY recommend Paul M. Cowan and his staff to anyone seeking a professional, experienced, trustworthy and caring attorney.

Mr Cowan handled my family's trust and did a horrible job. He and his paralegal Cindy Torres fail to communicate with the beneficiaries and trustees. His answers for the division of assets was completely inaccurate with the trust as written. It was such a bad ordeal that separate members of the famil...y had to hire Attorneys to deal with him. He failed to provide accounting reports of the trust expenses. He definitely does not earn the money he was paid to handle the trust. Not one single family member or trustee are happy with the service received. Avoid him and his team at all costs.

I recommend that no one ever consider hiring this lawyer. The way he has treated my family is beyond the pale, to the point where I wrote to the Florida Bar. My family (Canadian) hired him to complete the estate work of my late aunt who was a Florida citizen. What a nightmare trying to deal with hi...m as a Personal Administrator of the Estate...outright lies, deliberate misrepresentation of the facts are just starters. He refuses to provide any statements for monies we paid him, to provide copies of documentation as promised, to respond to emails, letters and phone calls for over a year, misses court deadlines, and knows not a single thing about our case to the point where we had to do the work ourselves. He told us one thing, even in writing and then told The Florida Bar investigator a totally different thing...literally pages of inconsistencies in his reporting to the Bar. We had to read his twisted response to the Bar about our complaint and issues to get some of the facts we should have had a year or more ago about the status of our Estate. Hoping that The Florida Bar would force him to communicate with us and give us the documentation and information we need and to get on with doing the job he was taking 1/3 of the estate to handle, instead, the Florida Bar felt the 'communication' from him was acceptable and when we appealed their decision, he withdrew from the file and we are left with no documents, no information as to what he has and has not done and he has our disbursement fund, the amount left unknown because he would not provide statements of disbursements. He should be disbarred.
