Joshua S. Bickman

Joshua is a very good attorney who was there to help me with my divorce case. After my separation, I first contacted an attorney close to my courthouse in Osceola County. The divorce case wasn't going the way I thought it should because it seemed like the attorney was agreeing to everything that wa...s said. Since my ex-spouse recently left our house and left to Miami-Dade and filed the divorce case in Miami-Dade, I looked for an attorney there, and found Joshua. The first thing Joshua did in the Miami courthouse was he successfully argued to get the case brought back to Osceola County. After the case was filed in Osceola County, I decided to keep Joshua, and although it was a 4 hour drive for him, he always came to the courthouse whenever he needed to be there, and he brought my case to a close with a very satisfactory outcome for me. He was always responsive to my calls whenever I had questions. He was very good in the courtroom and he was able to convey all the things I wanted the judge to understand, and I think this was a large part of why I was able to get the outcome I had hoped for in the beginning. I hired Joshua Bickman in April of 2015. I am following the Avvo review guidelines to explain what Attorney Bickman Failed to Do: Failed to be organized. He asked me several times for financial items that I had already sent. Failed to be compassionate. I am overwhelmed by the divorce legal process... and have many questions. Mr Bickman would just tell me to " Be Quiet" instead of addressing my concerns. Failed to articulate a convincing argument during mediation. I have a pre-nup with a clause that should have worked as a bargining chip. Mr Bickman failed to use it in our favor. Failed to show up for a meeting. We had twice confirmed a strategy session meeting to go over what we would ask for or be willing to give in mediation. Mr Bickman did not show up! I was was there by myself with a blank notepad, heartbroken. Failed to read the judges memo or order regarding the court fee for mediation. Instead of starting mediation, we used up valuable time (mediation has a strict time limit) to leave the court house and go to a store to buy a new money order. This made us look very unprofessional to the mediator and opposing counsel. My feeling is Mr Bickman relied on past experience to just coast by, instead of spending the time necessary to be well prepared on an individual case basis. I was very disappointed with Attorney Joshua Bickman.
