Kathryn DeVane Hamilton

also known as Kathryn Hamilton, Kate Hamilton

About me

Kathryn DeVane Hamilton is the founding partner of The Hamilton Law Firm and has been practicing law in both Florida and Washington states since 1998. Prior to establishing the firm, Kathryn began her litigation career at the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office where she was lead counsel in over forty trials and her zealous representation resulted in the acquittal of many clients facing years in prison or the dismissal of charges. She then went on to practice at the prestigious Miami boutique family law firm, Kutner and Associates, in matters limited to high asset and complex marital and family law litigation representing national and local community and political figures, athletes, entertainers, artists, prominent business owners, entrepreneurs, doctors and healthcare professionals, and attorneys, where she obtained creative settlements and positive trial results for the firm’s clients.

In 2008, Kathryn founded The Hamilton Law Firm, a boutique practice focused solely on complex or high asset marital and family law matters.  Kathryn dedicates herself to providing high quality, skillful, and tenacious representation to her clients in all family law matters, including dissolution of marriage, alimony, child custody and time-sharing, child support, modifications of alimony and child issues, pre and post nuptial agreements, paternity, domestic violence, and same sex matters.

Kathryn DeVane Hamilton has been repeatedly honored by Super Lawyers, which recognizes preeminent attorneys in each state and has been named a Rising Star for 4 years, a distinction that only 2.5% of the lawyers in Florida receive. Kathryn is rated "Superb" by Avvo as a Top Family Attorney. She has also authored several publications and has lectured on family law to other attorneys in the state.

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Society and Justice at the University of Washington in 1995 before moving to Miami, Florida where she obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, after being chosen for the Moot Court Board and earning Honors in the Litigation Skills Program. Kathryn is a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar and has been a member of the Florida First Family Inns of Court since 2002.
