I was in a car accident that resulted in a concussion and several injuries that prevented me from returning to work. I must say, I am feeling quite emotional and overcome with gratitude as I write this review. I suddenly became very ill in 2015, just as I was excelling at a job I truly enjoyed. Additionally, I was working on my MBA and had lofty career goals. My husband and I, after years of working to put ourselve...s in a position to buy a house, were finally starting to see a better future on the horizon. I can’t say I know what triggered my illness, but I became extremely ill. I toughed it out for nearly two years, seeking every possible treatment I could find. Finally, my body gave up and I knew I couldn’t push through another day. When I filed a claim with my long-term disability carrier, I expected that coverage to keep me afloat until I (hopefully) healed and could return to work. It didn’t exactly happen that way. Months after denying my claim, the insurance company sent me for an Independent Medical Evaluation and after a thorough examination, the doctor’s report proved sufficient to certify my disability and the denial was reversed. Unfortunately, about 7 months later, I was asked to attend another IME. I will spare you the details, but suffice it to say that the doctor who conducted the IME had already made his judgement before ever having met me. As a result, my claim was closed without warning, leaving me absolutely financially devastated. I wrote letter after letter; filed complaints with every agency I could find think of and yet, the insurance company would not budge. In my arrogance, I had been so convinced that I didn’t need an attorney. I thought, “I’m intelligent enough that I can do this on my own”. I was so wrong! This review may be long, but my situation and Dabdoub's performance warrants this review. You work your whole life to take care of those you love. When you are unable to work due to a health condition, you depend on your disability insurance benefits to help you through those very difficult times. Wh...en I found myself in that situation, the unthinkable happened. After months of struggling with my condition and gathering all of the documentation (documents were completed by my doctor and surgeon as required) that CIGNA said I needed to be approved for my Short Term Disability, I was denied the benefits that I was entitled to under my compensation package with my employer. I was already suffering tremendously from my severe condition, and now on top of that I had no finances coming in to carry us through. On top of that, CIGNA would not approve the surgery that I needed for my condition. This had a devastating blow on not only me but my wife and my children. For the first time in our lives we were in great financial despair and began to have mental meltdowns. I had nowhere to turn. I begged my employer for help.
