Aileen Fernandez-Mesa, Esq. is partner of Orshan, Spann and Fernandez-Mesa. Ms. Fernandez Mesa focuses her practice on complex family and matrimonial law litigation, including, but not limited to divorce, child custody, division of assets and liabilities, child support, alimony, relocation, modification and post-divorce proceedings, paternity, appellate practice, dependency matters and collaborative law.
As a former Division Chief and Supervising Attorney for the Department of Children and Families, Ms. Fernandez Mesa has extensive experience in the practice and litigation of family law and dependency matters before the state courts. During her tenure as Division Chief, Ms. Fernandez Mesa conducted various litigation skills trainings.
Ms. Fernandez Mesa received the Children’s Legal Services Outstanding Achievement Award for Trial Preparation in 2009. She also received a formal commendation from the Secretary of the Department of Children and Families in 2010.
Ms. Fernandez Mesa was admitted into the Florida Bar in 2007. She is a member of the Family Law section of the Florida Bar, the Cuban American Bar Association and the First Family Law American Inn of Court.
Ms. Fernandez Mesa has been involved in numerous civic organizations. She served as Co-Chair for the Florida Charitable Employee Campaign Fundraiser from 2009 through 2011. She also participated in the 2010 Haiti Repatriation Operation. Additionally, Ms. Fernandez Mesa has served as a pro bono Guardian Ad Litem.
