Robert Amsel represented me in a federal drug case. He was with me from indictment to post-incarceration and I can honestly say he did everything possible to help me in every way. My case was a relatively simple open and shut case, and yet he still went above and beyond to seek a better outcome for ...me. I was completely satisfied with the details he found in his research, and with the way he presented them in court. He also did a great job of presenting me as a person, along with all the mitigating circumstances, during my sentencing which ended up helping a lot. He was also there for me while I was in the county jail and could contact very few people. After my incarceration, he continued to help me in many ways, even though my fee technically only covered everything up until my sentencing. I had an extensive criminal history and in the year 1994 landed a Federal Indictment. I fled the country for 5 years and was finally caught it Japan. I was looking at a minimum of 20 years because of my prior charges. In addition to the pending federal charges I also had two state drug trafficking ch...arges. Bob Amsel was recommended to me by a close family friend who said he went to law school with him and graduated at the top of his class and was awesome at trial. I met with Bob at the Federal Detention Center in Miami and was very impressed with his knowledge and confidence. He explained to me that it was very important to convince the Feds to allow us to plead guilty to the Federal Charges First then go to the State Court and plead guilty to those charges and have the sentences run concurrent. He explained to me if we plead the state first then the Feds, I would be looking at a possible life sentence. The charges against me were solid and there was no escaping prison and no chance of winning a trial. The evidence was overwhelming . Bob was able to convince the Feds to allow me to plead guilty to the Federal Charges first . I got 10 years. Then plead guilty to the State charges. (I got 7 years running concurrent with the Feds) Of the 10 years, I did 7 years total. BoB assured me that when I was in prison he would be my attorney until my release and any motions that needed to be filed would be coverer under the original payment. The bottom line is Bob did and awesome job, always answered my phone calls from prison for 7 years, and tried everything he could to get me out early. Because of Bob, I did 7 years and not 70. I now have a family a very successful business and am making more money now than I did when I was selling drugs and committing all kinds of crime.
