Before becoming an attorney in 2012, James, a native Floridian from Jacksonville, was a noncommissioned officer in the United States Air Force, where he received honorable discharge with a Good Conduct Medal and an Achievement Medal for exceptional work and team leadership in the field. After working as a regional manager for a $10+ million dollar company, he received his Bachelor of Science in business, with a minor in finance, from Jacksonville University, and his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2001. As a law student, he interned in the Bankruptcy Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Assistance Clinic and at the Domestic Violence Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.
Making use of his law degree and his business acumen, James was a faculty member at Nova Southeastern University School of Law, a paralegal at the Miami insurance defense firm Hightower & Rudd, P.A., and a legal administrator at the Ft. Lauderdale law firm Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A., where he spent ten years as CFO. Following his position as both an associate and legal administrator/CFO at that firm, James joined Cooke Law Group in Miami in 2012. Until recently, James was a Kaplan University adjunct professor of legal studies, teaching products liability litigation, civil litigation, and left Cooke Law Group in March 2015 and formed the Law Offices of James D. Allen, P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida where he specializes in Complex Commercial Litigation, Contract Disputes, Condominium/Homeowner’s Association Law, Employment Law, and all aspects of Real Estate Litigation.
