Worst outcome possible - not in our best interest.

Our experience with Jocelyn Daniell was extremely disappointing. In our opinion, she failed to adequately protect her client’s interests during a highly contentious divorce. Among the issues that concerned us were settlement terms that, believe it or not, limited a parent to only two 10-minute pho...ne calls per week with his child. We also objected to allowing a vehicle titled and insured in the husband’s name to remain in the wife’s possession, with no meaningful protection for him. The vehicle was later involved in an accident and received a speeding citation while still under his insurance. We were also troubled by an agreement requiring the marital home to be listed for sale with no firm deadline, allowing the situation to remain unresolved indefinitely. In addition, we felt insufficient effort was made to pursue compensation for personal property that had allegedly been thrown outside and damaged by the elements. What made matters worse was the handling of billing. The written fee agreement stated that once 50% of the retainer had been used, an itemized statement would be provided and additional funds requested if necessary. That never happened. Instead, after mediation concluded and concerns were raised regarding the representation, we were presented with a bill seeking approximately $8,700 beyond the original retainer. When we questioned those charges and pointed to the written fee agreement, a billing dispute arose. That dispute ultimately affected a completely separate criminal matter being handled by another attorney at the same firm, creating even more frustration and concern for our family. We filed a grievance with the State Bar of Georgia regarding these issues and provided supporting documentation. No disciplinary action was taken, which was deeply disappointing given the circumstances. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm. We encourage prospective clients to carefully review fee agreements, closely monitor billing, and fully understand the long-term consequences of any proposed settlement terms before signing. How Attorneys are allowed to breach their own agreement then ZERO repercussions - I will never understand! That is why the lawyers conduct themselves this way… they get away with it.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I endorse this lawyer. The Daniell Law Firm is one of the few firms to whom I refer clients who require assistance in areas that are outside of my normal fields of expertise. I have been very happy with the feedback I receive from those referrals. Ms. Daniell, and her husband and partner, David, are two professionals I have had the pleasure to get to know, and work with on matters that require more than the expertise I am able to give certain clients. On matters that are not referred, I have worked directly with this firm, with extremely positive outcomes. The Daniell Law Firm is committed to assisting their clients, and communicating with them effectively throughout their representation. This firm is professional, and I am proud to have them as colleagues."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
