also known as Allen Lightcap
Allen Lightcap focuses his practice on preparing for and taking cases to trial. As Randy Mayer and Mark Harper have taught him over the years, the best way to practice law is to know your case better than anyone else. Allen prepares every case as if he will be presenting it to a judge or jury, which adds tremendous value whether in settlement negotiations or at trial.
Prior to joining Mayer & Harper, Allen served as Assistant Attorney General under Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens. In that capacity, he represented the Professional Standards Commission against numerous teachers implicated in the Atlanta Public Schools CRCT cheating scandal. He also defended a class action lawsuit filed against Governor Nathan Deal and the Public Defender Standards Council, asserting widespread claims of ineffective assistance of counsel in a rural Georgia judicial circuit. He represented the Office of Bar Admissions and Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants and successfully represented numerous superior court judges who were sued in their judicial capacities.

Compassionate and hardworking
Allen is professional and compassionate. He truly cares for his clients. I was at a loss of what to do when I found myself under an ethics investigation for something that happened over 20 years ago. I had done everything that I thought I was supposed to do, and was advised to do, prior to speaking...

Could Not Have Asked for a Better Attorney!

In April of 2024, I found out that a criminal arrest warrant was taken out on me for an incident that happened at my former school in August of 2023–despite the fact that the incident was investigated by D...

"I have had the privilege of working with Allen over the past decade. When I need an attorney to assist me with a client's matter or handle a representation I am unable to, I always check to see if Allen is available. He is an attorney who understands and appreciates that every representation is a balance of the law, the facts, and the client's goals. He always exhaustively researches the law, investigates the facts, and counsels his clients. I trust him to take care of any of my clients, friends, and family who are in need."
"Allen Lightcap is one of the smartest, wisest, and most personable people you will ever meet. On top of that, he’s an exceptional lawyer. Clients love him; competitors know he means business. Allen has a near encyclopedic knowledge of many areas of the law. More importantly, he’s great at dealing with people. Allen will give everything he's got to get the best possible resolution of your case. If you need legal representation, you need to contact Allen without delay."
"I strongly endorse Allen Lightcap for his outstanding expertise in government law and litigation. We have been opposing counsel in several Georgia professional licensing cases. Allen is unfailingly professional, thoughtful, fair, and analytic about each case. While attentive to, and persuasive on, all factual details and potential legal arguments in a case, he never loses sight of either his clients’ interests or the rights of the accused—he always seeks to do justice that is right for both the individual and for the public good."
