I have had issues with my mental health from the time the Navy discharged me. These issues arose while serving as an Independant Duty Corpsman on the nuclear submarine John Adams, SSBN 620. After a critical medical evacuation of a shipmate, that I had diagnosed with an appendicitis, was killed durin...g the transfer from our submarine to a helicopter, I felt as if I had sent my patient to his death. For many years I suffered from the memories of that day in December. I did not know that I was suffering from the effects of PTSD. Many health care providers in the private sector, who I sought out for help, either told me that my issues would fade with time or prescribed medication(s) that dulled my senses. I really appreciate everything Mr. Studdard and his team has done to help me. I'm a disabled vet and had been dealing with the VA on my disability and really needed help. After working with them they were able to get my appeal taken care of and approved within a year. Let me cut to the chase, if you're a veteran needing help navigating your appeals, doing it on your own is not a great idea. many of my veteran friends and colleagues have given up on the process because of how confusing and daunting the task is. I was the same way until I contacted Perkins Studdard.... They filed the paperwork and got everything moving; which, on its own, would have taken me months with navigating the panic and complexities of doing it. they helped me understand what my exams would be like which alleviated a lot of the stress that comes with this process. They were also fast to respond either through email or by phone with any questions I had.
