Absolutely the best lawyer!!

Attorney Whitworth represented me in a nasty child support matter with my ex-husband. My ex-husband refused to pay child support that was ordered in the divorce proceedings. Attorney Whitworth and Julie were the best. They communicated with me often and responded to all emails and phone calls. I ...truly appreciate their professional handling of my legal matter. Needless to say, I was warned by several friends that hiring a flat fee attorney was a mistake, after reading the reviews on Avvo I contacted and hired Attorney Whitworth and I am Sooooo Glad that I did!!

Great

I replaced my attorney with Sean because he was dragging out the case and charging me by the hour. At first, I was afraid that Sean would not do a good job since he charged a flat rate of 1/2 what I had already paid my first attorney. My other attorney had only done about 10% of the work so Sean ha...d to do the other 90%. But, I was wrong. Sean got the case into court quickly and represented me with vigor. Also, his staff was very friendly and helpful.

Legal Hack! What a waste of money.

Sean puts on a good show before he has your money. He tells you everything you want to hear. I remember at the consultation thinking "this guy is good." Wow! I couldn't not have been more wrong. Go play the lottery. You have a better chance of winning than by hiring this lazy crook. So the back st...ory here is that my ex was over $90k in arrears in child support and I had custody of my 10 yr old daughter. My ex wanted to amend the divorce decree which stated he owed $1600/mo. He also finally wanted custody, which is the first time in her 10 years that he wanted to spend time with her. The reason he did this was so he could stop making child support payments, which he wasn't making in the 1st place. During the consult, Sean learned all of this and stated, "How is this guy not in jail?" That comment alone made us all feel Sean was the one to hire here. Over the course of the 2 years the suit endured, Sean did the following.... 1 Called me for a live meeting, as I was living in CO at this time. I flew to Atlanta only to find Sean had forgotten about the meeting. 2 Had no interest in looking at the papers I had accumulated, showing where my ex never paid for child support, doctor appointments, insurance, clothing, or any of his other obligations. 3 Twice he was an hour late for a meeting 4 On the day of mediation, he was too busy to make it. Instead he sent some pre-pubescent lacky of his who knew nothing about my case. When the lacky made attempts to contact Sean during mediation, Sean was too busy to answer his phone. I was basically there myself. At the end of mediation, I had lost my child...child support from my ex went from $1600/mo to $385/mo....and I lost the $5k I had paid Sean because he completely lost interest in this case, not to mention all of the other money I had lost flying back and forth to Atlanta only to be dismissed.

Chris I am sorry you feel this way and because of attorney privilege I am not at liberty to post the facts of this matter. However, it is very disingenuous of you to state that nothing was done in a two year matter and that something was done to you at a mediation in which there is no commitment other than the one you choose to make. Mediation is not binding is not arbitration nor a hearing, in fact mediation is a neutral negotiation in which the parties attempt to resolve their matter and everything discussed remains in the rooms after unless there is a settlement. There is no obligation to make the choice to agree unless the client chooses and this is clearly explained in the process. To come back after so much time and slander my office that remained on your matter for two years while remaining committed to the flat fee accepted and make these false statements is disturbing. I will stand by my offices practice and our commitment to clients.

"I was peripherally involved in a case with Sean, who represented a parent in a custody dispute. While everyone else was usually up in arms with drama, including myself, Sean remained collected and focused, and kept the case on track. The case recently resolved at mediation, and the outcome was the best possible scenario for all parties, and most importantly, the baby. Sean is patient and kind to all parties throughout litigation, but can and certainly will, become the staunch advocate that is needed to make sure the law is followed, and his client's legal rights protected. I recommend Sean to anyone who wants to ensure the best possible outcome for themselves and their children in a custody dispute. Custody dipsutes are painful enough as is....you need an attorney who will avoid the drama and stay focused on the lives that will be affected."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
