I completed my undergraduate degree at North Georgia College and State University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Subsequently I joined the United States Army and served proudly as a Paratrooper with the XVIII Airborne Corps, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After being honorably discharged, I obtained my law degree at the John Marshall School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia and went on to serve as a prosecutor, gaining invaluable prosecutorial and trial experience. It was while serving as a prosecutor that I saw the need for people who had been accused of a crime to have access to thorough and zealous legal representation on their behalf. In addition to my duties as a defense attorney, I also serve as the Chief Judge in the City of Milton and Roswell Municipal Courts. I represent clients in all criminal matters, including DUI, BUI, Domestic Violence, Drug Offenses, Traffic, Juvenile, White Collar, Theft, Arrest Warrant Applications and Defense, TPO Defense, and others.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Brian Hansford and using his services for 15+ years. Brian is an excellent lawyer, he is extremely hard-working and very honest and straightforward. He is extremely well respected among his peers in the state of Georgia, and he gets results. When it comes to Retaini...

Liar and poor attention to the case
Brian alleged that he had a personal relationship with the ADA handling the case. He later told me that he had never met the man. There was information there for the taking but he did not even try to get it. I guess there were more important ($$) cases. He pressured me to take a deal which wa...
Dear “Anonymous”, I am surprised to learn of your dissatisfaction with the outcome our firm obtained for the felony Aggravated Assault case against you in Cobb County. As you’re aware, as the case involved your alleged strangulation of your son, Georgia law required that upon conviction you be sentenced to a minimum of 3 years in prison, with a possible maximum sentence on that charge of 20 years in confinement. As you faced the testimony of that son, and your daughter, and significant related evidence, we understood your desire to avoid a trial and to resolve the case by a favorable plea if possible. After much investigation and advocacy by our firm over many months, we were ultimately able to secure a tremendous resolution for you – a plea to straight probation and no jail time whatsoever. Indeed, we were able to not only convince the judge to sentence you under the First Offender Act (so that you have no conviction for anything), but also we were able to secure the immediate application of First Offender treatment so that you wouldn’t have to wait until the end of your probated sentence for your record to be cleared. In short, by any measure, given the evidence and potential consequences you were facing, we feel extremely proud of the work we did on your behalf. If you have subsequently changed your mind, are desirous of a jury trial, and are now willing to risk the substantial period of incarceration that would likely come with an adverse jury verdict, you should consider retaining alternate counsel to examine any and all available options. We wish you and your family the best as you move forward from this extremely difficult and stressful situation; please let us know if we can assist in any way.

Fantastic Experience
I cannot say enough about the service that Brian and his team member Erin provided. He was recommended to us by a friend who had hired him for their son. They provided good, solid advice to my family when my son received a fairly severe driving citation. The punishment that the state was suggesting w...
