Represented by Bob Nunley

I was charged with growing approximately 35 marijuana plants in my home. I also owned and kept a gun in my home. My home was raided by the police. Having the gun in my home created the link to elevate this small pot bust to the Federal level. I paid Bob Nunley approximately $27,000 to represe...nt me. I later learned that at the time of this representation Nunley was also representing someone outside the US and was frequently gone. Because Nunley is a one man lawyer company with a secretary there was no-one outside of Nunley who could provide answers to my questions while he was gone. I also felt he was slow to return my calls. Bob Nunley's representation was not at all personalized. The day of sentencing the federal judge offered me an opportunity to address the court. I was completely unprepared to speak because Nunley never told me to expect this opportunity. As a result I was caught off guard and did not speak well which may have affected the judges sentencing decision. I was sentenced to three years in a federal minimum security prison with five years of probation upon release. I later learned it is common for a defendant to be provided an opportunity to address the court. Too bad Bob didn't tell me this. I do not recommend Bob Nunley to anyone.

This is a review posted not by "Adam," my federal client, but by his roommate's father, who I refused to provide discovery to after my client was sentenced in federal court in Raleigh, NC. At the time of the posting of this adverse review, my former client was in federal custody and did not have access to the internet to make this post. His roommate was also sent to prison because of the drugs/firearms found in their apartment and as a result of my client's cooperation against him. Therefore, when the roommate's father asked for discovery from my client's case (that would have shown my client's cooperation against his son--the roommate), I refused to turn in over. He got very upset and later he posted this under my client's name. The fact that my client received such a light sentence in a drug growing/weapon possession case reflects the true quality of my legal services. I always cover with every client their right to address the court and what they are going to say in advance of sentencing, so I know what I need to say at sentencing.

The WORST lawyer ever

My young son was represented by this man if you want to call it being represented! He did NOTHING for my son, and would not answer any of our families calls or emails. He had my YOUNG son sign a plea which was not true, but yet he scared him into it. We fired him 7 days before the trial because he h...ad the nerve to mail my son his PSR through legal mail. It was the worst of the worst. After hiring the other Federal lawyer he looked some THINGS up only to find that MR. Nunley had done NOTHING for my son. I would NEVER advise anyone to hire this so called lawyer.

This review by an angry mother of a federal appointed client is not accurate whatsoever. I refused to continue talking to her in mid-case because of her abusive language and lack of appreciation for the facts and reality in general, and I thereafter would only deal directly with her son, my client. This upset her. I advised her that if she wanted an attorney to talk to her, she could hire one. She did the weekend before sentencing, and I gave him all of my pertinent file. I appeared at the sentencing and was excused by the Court, and the new attorney thanked me after the sentencing because he said he used my sentencing memo and the judge went with my recommendations. A PSR is a sealed court document and I would never mail it to someone and I did not in this case. Her son could have received a life sentence and received substantially less as a result of my efforts. You cannot hold against a client his abusive mother.
