Nathan Sweet

There are no questions that the gammit of law practice can bring attorneys to practice in fields of a vast variety. Nathan Sweet encompasses a wide and extensive 1st hand practice of such matters. In my case, it dealt with family law. The transition, in my opinion could not have been better met, a...pproached, and finalized. A true gentleman with that personalized warm-hearted and astute care and follow up.

Mr. Sweet was a rock solid resource throughout my divorce and custody case

Although we tried to keep things amicable after our separation, a number of money- and custody-based issues presented themselves. Rather than talk it out, my ex-wife filed a number of reports with the civilian and marine corps authorities, in a blatant attempt at taking my son and my career from me.... Obviously, I quickly realized that I needed professional assistance. I spoke with a number of local attorneys and immediately felt at home with Nathan and his legal team. After presenting them with every shred of evidence I thought a person could have, they helped me document even more issues and collect the related evidence to disprove every claim and to make truthful counter-claims. Nathan is easily the most honest, forthright champion of family rights and children's rights, that I have ever encountered. He personally navigated me through the toughest period of my life, ensured that my son was shielded from everything, and truly exemplified everything I expected from a professional family law firm. Although our case in NC did not continue in the manner that we had hoped, Nathan continued to advise me and work with another out-of-state legal team to coordinate countless meetings, phone calls, depositions, etc. With Nathan's assistance, and the tireless work by he and his team, my life was drastically impacted in a positive way. Thank you, Nate, for everything you have done for me and everything you will do for others who find themselves in similar positions!

Worst choice ever

I would give zero stars if it were available. We hired Nathan in Dec 2012 in a custody case in which we had custody of my husband's daughters and their mother decided she needed child support once her and her new husband lost BAH and moved into base housing so she wanted them back. We told Sweet we w...ould be moving out of state the following June and needed this taken care of before then. Sweet never set a court date to get our case heard. My husband went to mediation w his ex wife and called Sweet's office that same day to tell him nothing was resolved, that requirement had been met & he could now set a date for the hearing. NEVER happened. This was in February 2013. Each time new calendars were posted I would check them and there were times Sweet was supposed to have filed motions for us and I would see the calendar have us on there but it was the opposing attorney's motions not ours. Sweet & his staff were he worse I've ever had. What a waste of FOUR GRAND. Sweet never tells us he hasn't set a date until April 2013, by this time he says he can't get us on the calendar before we move to California & we would need to come back exactly one week after leaving NC which meant we would drive for 4 days over 2,600 miles and turn around and need to be back in Nc the very next day. IMPOSSIBLE. My husband was not able to do that with his job. We had to give the ex custody to their mother since we could not take them out of the state according to the current order in place when we left. A special needs child whose mother does not tend to her needs as she should & we had so much evidence, proof & information we would have won hands down!

This review is misleading on several fronts. First, no custody case is ever a win "hands down" nor was your case as strong as you make it out to be. This alone should indicate the unreasonableness of this review. Second, an attorney can only do their best to calendar a matter in a timely manner. This case was set on SEVERAL calendars but the court ran out of time on the domestic trial calendar it was set for. Third, a "preempt" court date was an option for you and you refused to take a plane flight from California to Jacksonville, NC to fight for custody of your own child. Fourth, a date could have been arranged after that preempt court date but you refused to return to North Carolina at all for a hearing, ever. I am sorry you were not happy with my services and wish you the best.

I highly recommend Nathan Sweet.

Nathan Sweet.. He has done a really good job for me. Someone accused me of communicating a threat. My license for my job was on the line with this charge. Needless to say, Nathan Sweet got the charges dropped and handled my case with upmost professionalism. He is also going to handle a divorce case ...and child custody case for me and I will review later how that was handled. I have the most confidence that he will handle it well and I will be very satisfied. I would and will and do recommend this lawyer to anyone. He is awesome!!!!!

EXCELLENT LAWYER "WILL RECOMMEND TO ANY FAMILY MEMBER AND FRIENDS ANYDAY"

Hello everyone, I first met Nathan back in November 2012 when my wife and I were accused of shoplifting from Walmart. I did my research like most of you are doing now and found out that Mr. Sweet was one of the top rated lawyers in Jacksonville, NC. I got his number from this site and i...mmediately called him to schedule an appointment. He was very professional from the beginning and i noticed how determined he was to take my case. His professionalism and dependability are above reproach. My wife and I presented him all the information we had pertaining to the misdemeanor larceny charge we were facing. We explained to him that I had applied to the Florida Highway Patrol and that i couldn't afford to have such charges on my record, neither could my wife. Specially being an Active Duty member of the United States Marines. He immediately acknowledged the situation gathered all of our paperwork and told us the options we had. It wasn't a hard decision to make because he went above and beyond and gave us a win win situation. We were so relieved to hear how everything was going to turn out. It felt like so much weight off our back. He spoke to us every week and kept in touch with us on his personal phone. Yes, his personal phone! He gave it to us the same day we hired him and said "Please don't hesitate to call me for anything." I knew then that we weren't just hiring a professional lawyer but instead a trustworthy, dependable, and dedicated professional that is very passionate about his job. Today January 29, 2013 was our court date and he got our case dismissed on the spot. He has already made us aware that he will start the arrest expungement as soon as he receives the dismissal paperwork from the court. We are so thankful for his hard work and dedication to our case that I can't begin to find a word to express our gratitude. We will recommend Nathan Edward Sweet to anyone in our family to include close friends. Please don't hesitate to give Mr. Sweet a call because my wife and I can tell you from our experiences that you will not regret it. Good Luck!

"I selected other on how I know Mr. Sweet because none of the options appropriately describe our history. I met Mr. Sweet when he was a defense attorney and I was a Superior Court Prosecutor. Though Mr. Sweet was a newly minted attorney, it was obvious that he had a strong head on his shoulders and an adept understanding of the law. Several months later, Mr. Sweet was hired as an Assistant District Attorney and he became a co-worker with me at the Office of the District Attorney for the Fourth Prosecutorial District. Mr. Sweet immediately excelled in his new role as a District Court Prosecutor. In fact he did so well, Mr. Sweet was promoted to the position of a Superior Court Prosecutor. It was at this point that both Mr. Sweet and I had an opportunity to work on top level felony cases in the highest trial level court in North Carolina. In that position, Mr. Sweet was able to hone his trial capabilities. He is now a strong advocate with an ability to sway judges and juries."
