Christopher James Welch

About me

As a board certified criminal law specialist I have had the privilege of representing thousands of clients charged with everything from minor traffic violations to serious felonies in courtrooms all over the Cape Fear region during my 14 plus years of private practice.  Previously I served as an Assistant District Attorney where I handled hundreds of cases on behalf of the State of North Carolina.  My practice spans district and superior courts, both State and Federal.

I was born and raised in Washington, DC before attending college in Connecticut.  I moved to North Carolina in 1997 to attend Wake Forest School of Law.  After graduating I went to work as aprosecutor before entering private practice in late 2002.  I live in Jacksonville with my wife, children and dogs.

I have an old-fashioned view of the legal field, and feel that lawyers need to treat their practice more as a profession than as a business.  My firm, Welch and Avery strives to provide our clients with a high level of service and individual attention.  I take a great deal of pride in my work I am truly appreciative when a client puts their trust in our representation.  If you are in need of legal help, I hope you will contact us and see what we can do to help.
