Allen has successfully handled virtually every type of criminal charge (everything from murder, drug conspiracy, embezzlement to DWI and traffic tickets, etc.) and virtually every type of civil matter (from personal injury motor vehicle crashes to breach of contract to Domestic Violence Protective Orders, etc.).

Allen also has extensive experience in handling appeals in all appellate courts. For a recent example, see State v. Yencer, 696 S.E.2d 875 (2010), raising a First Amendment challenge to the exercise of police power by the Davidson College Campus Police.

Allen was born and raised just outside of Charlotte in Denver, NC and his distinguished undergraduate and law school career at UNC included induction into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society and being awarded the prestigious Morehead Scholarship. He is active in Mecklenburg Community Church and loves spending time with his wife, Lynn, and sons, Haynes and Gray.

Great Service and very professional!

I in a minor fender bender with impacts to CDL. After 1st consultation they put all my fears at ease. They advised me as to the next steps and what would happen in court and also reconfirm the outcome of the case when everything was finalized. I would definitely use their representation again in the future.

Speeding Violation Dismissed!

Allen was able to get my 16 year old first speeding violation dismissed after over a year of delays in the courts due to covid. He and his team stayed on top of it and were able to get it dismissed.

DUI charge

What an awesome lawyer!!! I was facing serious charges and he but me at ease with his resolution of the matter. He was great and in the end he got everything dismissed. What else can I say but after 2 years of waiting,because of courts, I could finally rest easy. I’ll sleep good tonight. If you have issues that need to be resolved hire this guy. Won Counterclaim suit against the plaintiff and got mine dismissed

I hired Allen Brotherton to represent me in trial regarding a 50 C No contact order against me. Not only did he get it dismissed, he was able to win the counter claim against the other party because she was harassing me. I was very satisfied with Allen's performance in court and out of court before and after the trial hearing. I would highly recommend him to others.

Allen is the BEST!

After moving to North Carolina, I wasn't sure who to turn to when looking for a defense attorney for my case. I was referred to Allen and I was not disappointed. Both him and Sherry were phenomenal to work with. They were both responsive and transparent throughout the entire process and kept me up to date on all matters regarding the case. Best attorney ever!!!

First Traffic Ticket - great outcome

After receiving my first traffic ticket, I contacted Allen's office with a million questions and worries about how this speeding ticket could affect my license and insurance. Sherry was absolutely amazing through the entire process of hiring Allen and getting the ticket resolved. She was incredibly patient and gave thorough answers to all of my many questions. Allen was able to get my ticket significantly reduced and my court costs and fees reduced as well. This was the best possible outcome for me and I truly recommend Allen and Sherry to anyone else who finds themselves with a speeding ticket.

Best Criminal Defense Attorney Period

Best Experience

I just want to say THANK YOU to Allen and Sherry for their help with my case. I have never had a traffic ticket before and they made the process very easy and painless. There was never a time that I didn't know exactly what was going on with my case. Sherry entertained and answered all of my questions truthfully. They didn't promise me anything that they couldn't deliver on. From the beginning it was "This is what we can do for you" and "We will try for this". Knowledgeable and Helpful Lawyer

Allen is awesome!!

I got a ticket for doing 90/70, and I was very worried about the insurance points and the court costs. Allen split my attourney fee into two payments for me, and he got my charge taken down to improper equipment, so no points on my license! He also got the court to take my court costs down from $230 to $100! I am very pleased with how he handled my case, and I will definitely be calling him in the future if I need a lawyer.
