About Stephen
Biography
Stephen Corby is the Founder and Managing Attorney at Emblem Legal, PLLC. He grew up in Fort Mill, SC and has stayed in the Charlotte area throughout his educational and legal career. He attended college at the University of South Carolina – Upstate and then went on to graduate law school from the Charlotte School of Law.
Stephen has the necessary skills to help you take your legal matters from start to finish. He captained his law school’s trial team and led them to become one of the top four teams in the country. He has interned in both the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s office and Union County District Attorney’s during his time in Charlotte. Stephen is very familiar with the legal community in this area and can help guide you through the complicated hurdles the law presents.
In Stephen’s free time he coaches the Charlotte School of Law’s Trial Teams where he teaches law students how to excel in the courtroom. He also volunteers at Safe Alliance, an organization that helps victims of domestic violence.

Replied last April 18, 2023While I always appreciate constructive criticism, this person was never a client of mine. I have no idea what made them write this false review, maybe they are a competitor, but the situation they are describing never occurred. I'll also note that this person says they are "innocent" which is a term only used in criminal cases. I don't even practice criminal law. I have never lost my temper in court or been reprimanded for my behavior by a judge. I am considered one of the most skilled litigators in Charlotte by both my clients and colleagues.

The North Carolina Bar found no issues with the substance of the work but issued a letter of reprimand based on how the relationship with the client was ended. We have outstanding relationships with clients as evidenced by our significant amount of positive reviews. This was the first time I've had a client become violent towards my staff and I've better learned how to address it.”
